I am extremely understanding that modern society doesn’t allow for parents to be home with their children all day and I am an advocate for children starting preschool because there’s a big difference between 5 year olds who went to preschool and 5 year olds who didn’t, but please please please be understanding back that sometimes the classroom is not the place to be. It’s freaking 22° in my classroom on a normal day when I get to work at 8am before any children come in. Our windows face the sun, there’s nothing we can do! Relaxed uniform, blinds down, electronics off blah blah blah all the shit they tell you to ‘reduce temperature’ doesn’t counteract 30+ bodies in a small room. My school is one of the few not closing this week yet I will have the phone ready if any of my kids begin to show that they aren’t coping because one dysregulated child leads to many AND because their health is my priority over their attendance. If I am too hot, all of my children are 100% more than too hot.

What’s would you prefer? Missing one day of shapes or getting heatstroke? I cannot regulate my own temperature let alone a class full of children. I really really hope that the parents that need school tomorrow continue safely (send hats, send drinks because I’ve had children today without their water bottles?!?!?) and that the parents that can allow their children a more comfortable day decide to do so because if I’m being honest, I can manage 15 kids way easier than 28

Anyway, this wasn’t needed nor coherent but I’m sick of the damned if you do damned if you don’t mentality. At the end of the day, since you like to say that you’re the parent so much, be the fucking parent and make your own choice. Attendance is made up at this point in the school year anyway.
