Nyssa al Ghul

“he can think what he likes.” sara knew nyssa and she wasn’t like her father – at least not in the bad sense. hearing her words she looked down for a moment. “i can take care of myself.” in some ways she had been for a long time. “but if there’s anyone i trust to take down merlyn. it’s you.” sara had seen nyssa in action and also knew the power of the league. if she was being told to step down from merlyn then she was glad it was by nyssa. 

“Yes, as long as he does not get in my way” though the possibility of Damian staying out of the League’s business were slim. “I am aware of that, however Merlyn has killed you once before, I will not let that happen again” she was going to put a stop to Malcolm once and for all. “Once I find him I will make sure he can never hurt anyone again.”

           central city night life was a sight to be seen. however, it was quite overwhelming for someone who had been living in nanda parbat since she was six years old. after barely an hour of exploring a street party that she had happened upon, she found herself standing with a beer that had been shoved into her hand, though none had passed her lips as of yet. she was hesitant to try it, the stench of the amber liquid was quite strong and the actions of others around her were… were not something brooklyn wanted to copy, and the cup in her hand seemed to lead to that. “what – i don’t… what is this?”

“It is called a beer” Nyssa told her as she approached the girl “I would not recommend drinking it” the Demon’s Head had never really been fond of alcohol, she didn’t understand why people liked it so much, it lowered you inhibitions and Nyssa liked to keep a clear head at all times. 

“i think you’ll do great.” sara had faith in nyssa and it wasn’t just from the history they shared. although that did play a part. “okay. i guess i deserve that.” she did screw it up first time around. she’d been close to killing him. if he’d fought by the rules he’d been gone. done. “will you at least keep me updated with your progress?” sara needed to know if merlyn was heading back into town or if he was going to be any threat to her team. it mattered and she hoped nyssa would realise that. “no one should have access to that kind of power. especially not malcolm merlyn.”

“My nephew seems to think I am just like my father” not that she particularly cared about what Damian thought about her. “It has nothing to do with what happened, I do not wish to see you hurt again” that was the last thing she wanted, so she was going to deal with Merlyn herself. “Of course” she didn’t see a reason in keeping anything hidden from the blonde. “No they should not.”

Her mantra always had been and always would be family and legacy above all else. With the sight of her sister came a familiar wave of nostalgia that Talia could not fight off no matter how hard she tried. 

“Nyssa. أختي العزيزة. It was about time for a family reunion.”

She could see the tinge of resentment in the other’s eyes, but Talia could not find it in her heart to repent for it. She had left Nyssa with their father for the greater good and she was determined to have her little sister see that.

“I would have managed just fine without it” Nyssa commented dryly, it was safe to say she still resented her sister a little for abandoning her with their father, she’d never admit it though, if anyone asked she got over it a long time ago. “What are you doing here, Talia?”

“Does your mother know you’re using such language?”

“I am quite certain my mother does not care.”

“excuse me? you’re married to the green arrow?” she begins, lifting a brow in confusion, unsure how to take the recently-acquired information. the woman’s next words, however, brews the fury within her. “are you threatening an officer of the law?”

“Unfortunately, yes” Nyssa nodded, “it was not my idea” the assassins shrugged. “Perceive it however you want, the fact remains the same, your gun will not help you.”

“you want to do better?” although doing better than merlyn wasn’t saying much. however sara had faith in her. she always would. “nope but i can make sure that it doesn’t happen again. if you need my help with merlyn. i’m here.” it was the least she could do. nyssa probably didn’t need her help with the league but she wanted to offer anyway. “what’s stopping you?” yeah, yeah merlyn said it would be impossible but she didn’t believe him for a moment. 

“Yes” she refused to be anything like her father or Malcolm Merlyn. “I want you to leave Malcolm Merlyn to me” she didn’t want him hurting anyone, and definitely not Sara again. “The pits are a very complicated matter, there is no way of knowing what will happen if they are all destroyed, it is also possible to make more pits” though so far she was the only one with that knowledge, that and how to use the pits over again on the same person.

“sorry if that doesn’t fill me with much confidence. but he’s got away before.” sara wasn’t saying she wasn’t capable. it was just the fact that merlyn was a snake. he always managed to wriggle his way out somehow. “then what was?” in regards to her team safety she always put them first. she always would. “lets just hope if he does show up he’s on your side.” from what merlyn said it seemed like he would be. the kid hated his father as much as sara did. “unpleasant? more like hell.”  but then it worked better for other people. by the time sara had gone in she was long dead. it had worse affects. 

“Perhaps, however before I did not control the League nor its resources” this time she had everything she needed to find him, though it still wouldn’t be easy, Merlyn was quite slippery to say the least. “It hardly matters anymore, you cannot change what is done.” Nyssa didn’t know much about her brother, so she couldn’t say for sure that he’d be on her side, but hopefully as it seemed he didn’t like Merlyn much, he would be “yes, hopefully he is” if not she’d have to fight him too and she didn’t want that. “I am aware, it is why I am trying to make sure no one can use them again, unfortunately I cannot destroy them all.”

“good. last time i spared him against my better judgement. it won’t happen again.” her tone now neutral. perhaps talking was helping. “i didn’t trust him with his plans for me but he’s been watching my team. watching all of us. i couldn’t risk him hurting them. not because of something i did.” her head turned to look at nyssa. a flash of surprise on her features. “you knew?” her head shaking. “well merlyn’s after him. you might want to give him the heads up. he seemed pretty determined.” annoyingly: merlyn was good at getting what he wanted. “nyssa i never want to be near those waters again.” an edge to her tone. just being near them was enough to make every cell of hers itch. 

“He will not get away, every League member have orders to take him out if they see him” and this time she’d make sure he wouldn’t be able to come back, not even with the help of a Lazarus pit. “Yes, well, working with him was not the answer” if Merlyn had promised her team’s safety for Sara’s cooperation she didn’t doubt he’d go back on his word first chance he got. “Of course I knew” she liked to have all the information about things, and definitely about her own family. “I do not have any means of contacting him, I have not seen him since I was a child” she barely remembered anything about him. “I understand, it is quite an unpleasant experience.”

“make sure you find him and when you do – don’t let him walk from this one.” merlyn created issues whether he went. he was constantly appearing in and out of times that he shouldn’t be. she’d had enough. if she had gotten her hands on him she would have done it. she would have killed him. he was lucky. “exactly what you’d expect from merlyn. pits were a distraction. he said he has a son?” not sure if nyssa would know more about this. “then he risked my –” it was serious. “my blood lust.” the lines on her face frowned. “he’s an idiot. an idiot with some wannabe’ army on his side.”

“I can assure you, he will pay for what he has done” she should have taken him out a long time ago, next time she saw him she would. “Malcolm Merlyn is not to be trusted, there is always something more to his plans” Nyssa commented, she didn’t trust Merlyn at all, he’d proven himself untrustworthy over and over again. “Yes, I know of his son, my brother” she didn’t know much about him, just who he was, she’d only been a child when her brother and mother left the League. “The pits are not something to mess with” she’d spent a lot of time studying them, currently she was the only one who knew how to use one pit several times on the same person. “I am not worried about his army or him.”

sara knew this wasn’t nyssa’s fault. in fact nyssa had been the one to warn her it was a bad idea. not that she didn’t know that already. “i’m fine.” her response blunt. “sorry, i just–” words couldn’t describe the anger burning in her. he had made her look like a fool. no one did that and usually got away with it. “have you found him?”

“No, however I have most League resources looking for him” Nyssa assured her, they’d find him eventually and it wouldn’t be pleasant for him when they did. “Tell me what happened” she didn’t know all the details of what happened, just some of it.

sara knew she screwed up but it was either she screwed up and took the hit herself or she left it and let the team take it for her. she hadn’t been prepared to let that happen. merlyn was a bastard. everyone knew it. she had just hoped that when he had decided to screw her over he’d be fair about it. not play dirty like he had. she’d been winning till his new friends turned up. now she was covered in bruises. had been shot in the leg. and really wasn’t in the mood for anyone. especially herself. the wounds would heal. they didn’t bother her but her own frustration wouldn’t. “i really hope you didn’t come all the way down here to give an i told you  speech because trust me when i say this. i already know.“

When Nyssa heard about what Merlyn had done it was safe to say she was angry, she should have taken him out last time she saw him, she wouldn’t make that mistake again. And while she wanted to hunt down Merlyn for what he’d done she needed to make sure Sara was alright first. Taking a few assassins with her she went to see Sara. “You know me better than that” saying I told you so wasn’t exactly her style. “I came to see how you were.”

“nyssa,” sara sighed. “i’ll open up, okay?” it seemed like what the woman needed to hear and sara was down for getting her off her back. “nothing too significant? meaning nothing you want to share?” she wasn’t digging at nyssa, sara had just made it obvious that she had her things too. “tonight was unexpected.” her eyes turning to nyssa. “but just what i needed.” trying to be more open to the woman that had always meant so much to her. “thank you.”

“I hope you do” she wasn’t going to push it further, but she knew keeping all inside wasn’t healthy though, she herself used to to do that a lot. “Nothing worth sharing yet” if it was she would have told her. “Of course” Nyssa smiled at her “I am always going to be here for you if you need me, that will never change.”

sara was sure that she wouldn’t but at the same time she wasn’t ready to risk it. this was her sister. it mattered. “perhaps.” finally agreeing. “i’ll take your advise on board.” she wasn’t going to tell nyssa that she would do it and then completely back track. sara needed to out weigh her options first. it was important to do this right. “thanks.” she gave nyssa a nod. “so apart from merlyn. what else has been going on?” wanting to take the converation off herself.

“Your sister never judged me” Nyssa added, just to get the point across to Sara that Dinah wouldn’t judge her, no matter what. “When I first became friends with your sister, we bonded over you, but we also our problems with our fathers, we opened up to each other” she wasn’t sure what else to say to her to convince her that opening up to her sister might be the best way to go about things. “Nothing too significant” nothing worth sharing right now at least.

“she’s my big sister. of course it has.” dinah was a lot to live up to, regardless of whether sara was now a legend or not. “yeah, well telling her all the things that i’ve been caught up in over the years won’t help with that.” sara was not dinah’s problem. at least now what she had done whilst traveling. “i lost someone.” feeling the need to add reason behind her closed offness.

“Dinah would never judge you for your past” Nyssa assured her, she’d known Dinah long enough to know it was true, after all she hadn’t judged Nyssa and she’d done a lot worse things than Sara had. “All I am saying is, perhaps if you open up to her she will be more inclined to do the same” she didn’t know why she bothered, Sara was stubborn, trying to convince her of something was really hard. “I’m sorry to hear that” losing people was hard, she still remembered how she felt when she’d lost Sara.

“i’m not saying she would.” sara did think she would be judged for some of the things but since joining the legends she was a better person so it wasn’t about that. “she shouldn’t have to worry about me right now.” a small smile on her lips. “i can open up.” she felt able. “just don’t think that she wants to hear it right now.”

“Perhaps not, but you can not tell me the thought hasn’t crossed your mind” Nyssa said with a small shrug, she knew Dinah would never judge Sara for her past but she also knew it was easy to think people would judge her for it. “She is your sister, she will always worry about you” at least that was true about normal siblings, her and Talia not so much. “Of course” she replied in a tone that made it obvious she wasn’t convinced. “You cannot know that.”

“i wish it was.” she couldn’t share everything. there were things she wished she didn’t know. “i’m not prepared to be a burden to dinah when she’s already struggling. this is about her, not me.” sara had a lot she could spill, dump on those she cared about but she wouldn’t. “and the same goes for me.” she couldn’t bring herself to open up any more than that.

“Your sister won’t judge you” the Lance sisters really had a communication problem, especially when it came to each other it seemed. “If you don’t open up to her you cannot expect her to open up to you” she couldn’t understand why they were both being so stubborn.
