Little: nods sleepily, clutching a soft whale plushie Mhm... I'm weady.

Demon: Good. Then close your eyes, sweet pup, and listen to the gentle waves...

Once upon a time, deep beneath the silver glow of the moon, there was a quiet little tide pool. It was tucked between two soft, mossy rocks, hidden from the big, loud ocean. And in that tide pool lived a tiny starfish named Luna.

Little: Was she widdle wike me?

Demon: smiling softly She was very little, yes. Even smaller than your pinky finger. But her heart? Oh, her heart was as big as the entire sea.

Every night, Luna would look out at the vast, dark ocean and feel a little scared. The waves were so big. The currents moved so fast. She worried that if she ever left her little tide pool, she would be swept away.

Little: I get scawed too... of big fings.

Demon: I know, my love. And that's exactly what Luna's mama told her.

Little: What did her mama say?

Demon: Luna's mama was a wise, old starfish with a gentle voice. She wrapped one of her arms around Luna and said:

"Little one, the ocean is big. Yes. But do you know what else it is? It is patient. It has carried countless tiny shells, tiny fish, and tiny starfish just like you. It does not rush. It does not roar to hurt. Sometimes, it simply… whispers."

Little: ...what did it whisper?

Demon: Luna asked the same question. So her mama took her to the very edge of the tide pool, where the water met the open sea. And together, they listened.

At first, Luna heard nothing but her own heartbeat. But then… very softly…

"You are safe."

"You are small, and that is wonderful."

"You do not have to be brave alone."

Little: voice getting sleepier ...the ocean said that?

Demon: It did. And Luna realized something very important. She didn't have to cross the whole ocean tonight. She didn't have to be big or strong or fearless. She just had to rest. Right there, in her mama's arms, in their warm little tide pool.

So she curled up, just like you are curling up right now. She let the gentle waves rock her, back and forth, back and forth. And she fell asleep knowing that the ocean would still be there tomorrow. And that she would be loved, always.

Little: ...just wike you wuv me?

Demon: kissing your forehead Just like I love you. More than all the oceans in all the worlds, my precious pup.

Now, close your eyes. Let the quiet waves carry you. I'll be right here.

Sometimes, the big world is just too loud, too fast, and too heavy. Slipping into your small, soft headspace should feel like wrapping yourself in a warm blanket on a rainy day. So, I have gathered a few gentle tips to help you find that cozy feeling, whenever you need it most. (´｡• ᵕ •｡`)♡

1. Create a "Little Nest" Just for You.

Find a corner of your room or your favorite spot on the couch. Pile it high with your softest blankets, your squishiest pillows, and all your favorite plushies. This is your secret kingdom, where only softness is allowed.

2. Prepare a "Little Basket" Ahead of Time.

Fill a small basket or bin with everything you might want while small: coloring books and crayons, a sippy cup, a pacifier if you use one, a small snack, and a comfort object like a special stuffie. Having it all in one place means you don't have to search or think too hard.

3. Choose Your Cozy Sounds.

Soft music, gentle lullabies, or the quiet hum of a favorite cartoon can be a wonderful anchor for your little space. Make a playlist or find a show that feels like a warm hug for your ears. ♪(´▽｀)

4. Let Your Body Feel Small.

Wrap yourself in an oversized hoodie or a soft blanket like a cocoon. Curl up on your side. Hold a plushie close to your chest. Sometimes, letting your body feel small helps your mind follow.

5. Give Yourself Permission to Be Little.

This is the most important tip, my dear. You do not laneed to earn your little space. You do not need to be "little enough" or do things perfectly. You are allowed to be small, quiet, silly, or even a little sad. There is no wrong way to be you.

6. If You Have a Caregiver, Use Gentle Signals.

If words feel too big, have a small signal for when you need them. A certain blanket over your shoulders, a specific plushie in your lap, or a simple text like "🌙" can tell them you need extra softness.

7. Be Kind to Your Heart.

Some days, slipping down will feel easy and floaty. Other days, it might feel sticky or impossible. That is okay, little one. You are not failing. Your heart is just having a heavier day. Be as patient with yourself as you would be with a friend.

But sometimes, our regressors can become overwhelmed by the big, scary adult world, and they might try to talk about things that make their little minds feel fuzzy and anxious. (´• ω •`)ﾉ

So, I wanted to offer a few humble tips that work wonderfully in my own dynamics. My greatest hope is that they might help you create an even safer, softer space for your little one to retreat to. (´｡• ᵕ •｡`)♡

1. Gentle Diversion is Key!

When adult topics begin to surface, I find it ever so helpful to gently guide the conversation elsewhere. It’s not about ignoring them, but about protecting that fragile headspace.

· Try saying: "That sounds like a very big thought for such a sweet little head. How about we tell Demon all about your favorite stuffie instead?" ヽ(>∀<☆)ノ

· Or: "Let's let those grown-up worries rest for now. Demon would much rather know what color we should use for this drawing!" (￣ω￣)

2. The Magic of "Later Time"

It’s important to validate their feelings without diving into the topic right then. Promise to talk about it when they are feeling big again.

· Try saying: "I hear you, little one, and that is so important. Let's put that in our Grown-Up Talk box for when you're feeling bigger, okay? Right now, it's all about being small and safe." ٩(◕‿◕｡)۶

3. Offer Comforting Distractions

Sometimes, words aren't needed at all. A simple, comforting action can bring them right back to their peaceful place.

· You could: Gently hand them a pacifier, a sippy cup, or their favorite blanket. ♡～(´▽｀人)

· Or say: "You look like you need a big hug from Demon. Would that be okay?" (づ￣ ³￣)づ

4. Keep Your Voice Soft and Melodic

A calm, singsong tone can be like a warm blanket for their ears. It reminds them that they are with someone safe who will handle the big things. ♪(´▽｀)

5. Remember Your Role, Dear Caregiver

You are their safe harbor in the stormy sea of adulthood. By gently steering them away from these overwhelming topics, you are not being dismissive. You are doing your job perfectly—you are protecting their peace. (✿◠‿◠)
