Met demolift today! :)
After 100 years of Internet friendship, I finally got to meet this little badass. It was great seeing you today, Rita! Too bad you bailed before the PRs started flying around.

Back to benching
It's been 7 months and I'm starting to add benching back into my programming. Granted, it's lol weight. But still. Everything feels ok. Shoulder is sore. Not painful, just sore. One step closer.
Diet break
Been in a deficit for 6 months. Down roughly 20 lbs. Time for a little break. Not an all war, just 10 days of increased macros. After last week's high volume/high intensity week, I welcome it.
Final answer
My arthrogram (where dye is injected into the joint and a MRI is done to detect other possible issues) was done last Friday. Yesterday was my follow up appointment.
Good news - there is no labral tear in my shoulder. Final answer: just a hardcore case of tendinitis.
I’ll be back to 100% soon enough. Still have my sights set on competing again this year.
Stay tuned.
I guess this video on mobility just didn't keep me interested. Props to the wife on her ninja photog skills.

Squats and squats and squats
To take advantage of the down time on all things pressing due to my shoulder, my programming has been changed up a tad. I'm still going to do some floor pressing just to keep some movement going and to keep my mind occupied/happy, and will still work on my accessories and my deadlift (which is making some serious progress right now.) But squats are going to be my focal point. 4 times a week. Basically every day I lift. Straight squats, pause squats, pin squats, and SSB squats all on rotation. Maybe this will help cure the sucks my squat has always had. Good times.
Dat woosh doe.
One year ago today, this tornado ripped through the town of Moore, Oklahoma. This picture was taken from the parking lot of my daughter's high school. The town is still rebuilding. New homes, new schools, new businesses. A year has passed, yet I can still remember every detail of that day. I'm lucky that no one in my family was hurt. Some weren't that lucky. Hug the ones close to you. Tell them you love them.
Today's deadlift day was brought to you by Allegra, DayQuil, and a mouth full of Halls. Allergies are bullshit, but still managed a rep PR today.
Orthopedist
Overall today went very well. He works with a lot of athletes and is very familiar with injuries like this. After going through more strength and range of motion tests, he is fairly confident some PT exercises and injections should help a ton. One small worry is that the MRI didn't pick up anything labrum related...and that was the only area that concerned him during the strength tests. So now I get to have a MRI Arthogram done (inject dye into the joint and do another MRI). For now, I got a couple of injections and a list of exercises to do. To be continued.

The door's always open. It sucks to hear that you're battling digestive issues. We'll make it happen though.
Video from today's session. Had some issues keeping my elbows down on my squat, but other than that I'll take it.
A couple of still shots from today's squat and pull day.
Citadel Nutrition, FTW! (And I'm not just saying that because they sent me a black and orange cup with my supps. On that note, Go Pokes!)
MRI results are in
Rotator cuff tendinitis, fractured clavicle (I’m still trying to figure that one out), and bursitis.
Next stop, orthopedist. Good news is no surgery is needed.

Not awesome - Doc didn't call to give me my MRI results. Awesome - 2 rep PRs tonight. Amazing how much your squat and deadlift can improve when that's pretty much all you can do.
Meet Report I got a 672.6 kg / 1382 lb total at 89.95 kg / 198.3 lbs, which gives me that 400 wilks score! Overall, I’m very happy considering the non-ideal timing of the meet: I got a 500 lb squat, 600 lb deadlift, and 400 wilks score, none of which I thought I’d get until later this year, and I added almost 200 lbs to my total in six months (I’m sure it’ll slow down pretty drastically at this point). My bench continues to disappoint me; I will be hitting it hard in the months to come, and will definitely low-ball my attempts from now on too, since I did the same thing my first meet (making my first attempt, then failing twice in a row at the same weight which I was sure I had). I think I’m going to try to drop 10-15 lbs in the next 6-8 weeks and then start hitting it hard again. My next big goal is to lift at the backyard meet at SuperTraining in November. The SPF considers 1471 lbs “elite” at 198, and I figure that with the addition of wraps, that should be do-able by then.
Incredible. Great work, man!
