I had a half-baked idea to make Wordle multiplayer & collaborative - making it a "pass and play" game. After each guess, you send the game to someone else, and they make a guess, and back to someone else, and so on.

I gave myself two hours to implement based on an open-source Wordle clone. Deploying the app via Netlify was incredibly easy.

The implementation was rather straightforward - serializing game state into the URL and adding some sharing capabilities after each guess.

I had the opportunity to do a last-minute data visualization for a new partnership at my employer (https://data.world/). 

We were given hate crime data recently released by the FBI and tried to figure out the best way to represent it. My role at data.world is in User Interface development, but I love data visualizations and was asked to map out some of the data.

Birdman - Recreating the Birdman opening credits with HTML5 Web Audio APIs

The opening credits to the 2014 Best Picture Birdman was exceptionally creative. The music is composed primarily of a standard jazz drum set, and for each beat or loud hit of the cymbals, letters would appear on the screen, slowly filling out sentences.

This past week I had the privilege to speak at the curated track at JSConf 2014 on Amelia Island, FL.

Previously I had only spoken at meetups ( AustinJS and Hill Country JS ), so this was my first large (250+ people) audience. It was a thrill!

The reaction to my talk was incredible. So many people introduced themselves after my talk and told me how much they liked it. 

My topic was "User Interface Algorithms", where I dive into 2 Computer Science heavy algorithms that can be used in UIs to make them more intelligent.

The talk touches on HCI, some math, and has a bunch of images and videos with visual explanations of the algorithms.

DataMaps needed a grunt task to convert GeoJSON data into TopoJSON, so I whipped up this Grunt plugin to handle the task.

DataMaps now let's you specify a 'centered' property for each bubble, which will position a bubble in the geographic center of a state or country. For example:
