draw lots of faces without features, really. just place landmarks of the features. if you truly do understand how drawing faces in perspective works, this should be a cakewalk. then, add the features. if you struggle, you do not truly understand it as much as you could. that's no problem. if you find you are struggling, stop forcing yourself to do it from imagination and look for a reference. you will never learn if you do not have the proper visual data.

i get so depressed over my art that drawing gets scary and discouraging, i could like something i make then look at other artist's art and gets sad that i cant manage to make my art look as good or even do something i can really like, ive tried to study their ways and all but its really depressing because i cant seem to make progress...

maybe its just me..gulp.. sorry/ love your art a lot

yes when i was younger. i dealt with it by getting better, ideally better than who i was jealous of.

now i am just appreciative.

don't be discouraged, use those feelings as fuel to push yourself.

i do not get jealous because i can understand the work. when i was less experienced, it was difficult to grasp so it was easier to become jealous. with knowledge, you are no longer mystified by anyone's work, just very appreciative and thus jealousy doesn't appear hardly ever.

you can wallow and slow down in bad feelings caused by jealousy or you can grind and target aspects you want and see improvement, i recommend choosing the latter.

if you're not seeing improvement something needs to change. i am not you, i don't have the entire perspective, but usually what brought great change for my skill was simply honing observational processes.

depends what you want to achieve with it.

if you want to grow a larger account, twitter i think is best. just has a lot of people who are not just artists. tiktok also, it's easy, but you will have no permanence if you're not consistent and unique in some way, if you have no voice, but that is all social media, really. but tiktok is so vapid and you will need to turn your art into content.

for me, before when i was consistently posting and interacting with my growing community on instagram, i grew nicely and it was good. that was years ago, the app was different.

if you just want a place to showcase your art then artstation is good. also cara.

bluesky is good too but i don't use it. i have an account and forgot abt it.

for me, i like to use tumblr the most.

i mainly use tumblr and twitter now. i treat them similarly. i post and then i leave. i don't care about growing or numbers or anything like that anymore on either platform. it's happier that way. i am an artist, not an entertainer. art is just my hobby, i don't need to draw and post every day like i did when i was a kid. and i don't even post a lot of my work at all.

here i respond a lot because i see my tumblr as not just an art blog but the only place i feel comfortable publicly talking to others bc there are not a lot of ppl here.

if ur posting ocs and stuff i hear tumblr is hard, so i don't recommend it. as a side thing, yeah, i like it!! i guess it is kinda my main one now, anyway, as i post the most publicly here.

but i will say, my instagram and my main twitter both got followers and stuff when my content on both of those is mainly oc content. my original artworks. i don't know if i would have found measurable success on tumblr with those same works.

and why? i either find them really cool, relate to them or whatever. i am just very very drawn to these characters. the design, personality, whatever it is hard to explain. you just know what you like, and a lot of these i loved since a little child.
