Buy all of the varieties you can find and find out what thrives in your soil type!’#like it was solid advice but her delivery was a very unique experience haha #and then she kept coming back to yell-tell me about wind and rain and birds and fertilizing #I picked the ‘forbidden fruit’ and my husband scared the shit out of me #he was SUPPOSED to be keeping an eye on her #INSTEAD he chose to gasp and frantically whisper ‘oh my god she’s coming! she’s coming!’ when she wasn’t even out on the field #he basically pissed himself laughing because I started panic picking and trying to sneakily turn back around to my assigned row #it’s the only time I’ve ever been blueberry picking #but it was also the best experience I’ve ever had blueberry picking

I just started reading Fury Bound last night, and I unfortunately already have Opinions on it. 🫣 Which honestly isn’t surprising, considering I HATED the way Dire Bound ended.

I learned a very important lesson while harvesting mint from the garden for some tea the other day, and that is namely that it is important not only to check for bugs on top of the leaves, but also to check for eggs on the underside of the leaves. 🤢

#just chatting #luckily I clued in before I managed to pour water over the leaves #so I despite everything did not drink a hot cup of mint-egg tea #not gonna lie the thought made me a little queasy 😅#I’m curious to know what sort of life my mint is promoting

Now that I’ve had a few pieces of fruit two years in a row, I’ve decided that tayberries are not it. They’re like a more boring raspberry that wants to behave like a blackberry. 🥱

#just chatting #now I just have to figure out where in the yard the plant is going to go #because I don’t want it taking up precious space in my garden #I’m guessing the loganberry is going to go the same way #that bush just isn’t interested in giving me any fruit whatsoever though #so it could be I’ll never know #the Japanese wineberry and the boysenberry have won a permanent place in the berry patch however

🙏 Pleeeeease make this recipe if you’re in doubt about what to eat next, and make it even if you’re not. You absolutely won’t regret it! I just made it for lunch today and it’s my new favorite thing. My mouth is still singing harmonies as we speak. 🪽

My comments:

- Frozen corn worked perfectly for me. I just gave it a couple extra minutes on the stove to char up a little more. Fresh corn would likely taste better, though.

- Don’t skip the toasted pumpkin seeds! They give so much to the dish!

- Try half as much dressing next time. Also try adding a can of black beans.

- Put the whole jalapeño in if you like heat. I did, and it’s perfectly, cozily spicy.
