This was a decision I thought about for a long while now. FanFiction.Net (FFN)'s terms of service and the lack of functionality and features, freedom for me to write what I'd like, and protection for fanfiction writers are the reasons why I decided to migrate to AO3. Please keep in mind that any existing long works-in-progress (i.e., Change of Heart, Legend of the Mansion, and The Light of the Vampire) will still be posted on FFN.

On another note, I've deleted some more of my older works because I've since moved on. I have to be honest with myself now due to my limited writing, and I think for my mental health and sake, thinking of the older works I've written no longer brought the same happiness they used to.

My writing roadmap (hosted on Notion) is under some revision because, well, I've had to do some Notion migration. (I paid for a Notion plan on a separate Notion space.)

I know most people were not expecting this update out of the blue, but I've made the decision to erase all my fandom-related posts to declutter this space.

I thought for a long while about whether to make a blog hosted by Ghost, but I decided against it because, really, Tumblr is already a blog, I also have one on Pillowfort, and I don't want to pay for Ghost hosting when fanfiction writing is a hobby. (I mean, I could self-host, but I'm not a programmer, nor do I have the time and energy to learn.)

I really can’t commit to multiple fanfics at once now that I’m older. It feels like a disservice to older fans. Many of them have already moved on, so I feel all the more reason to delete my older writing.

My writing style has grown so much over the years that, while I know what the ending is (and always has been since ‘09), I’ve debated rewriting Kaoru’s Missing Thing in Her Life and Secretive Curse into one sole fanfic. However, I’m already working on one rewriting project (which is The Light of the Vampire), and I’d rather not rewrite another work at this point in time.

If I were to rewrite another work, it’d definitely be Two Different Worlds, which I’ve already been working on rewriting before I put it on hiatus.

I want to move on to creating bigger, better works for RGB in the PPG(Z) fandom filled with better writing and world-building. These may or may not include High School AUs from older ideas I’ve had as the years have passed.

To answer your question, my writing progress has been overall slow. Looking back on it, I think my personal computer setup at home contributed to my ability to write. After improving my setup to be ergonomic (which cost me a lot of money, but it was necessary for my health), I've been enjoying writing again. Plus, my new setup has relieved the pain from my wrist injury.

I'm still doing my best to write with diligence, but with my injury, I have to be mindful and not overdo it. I'm wearing a wrist splint as I type this. It's a little challenging to get used to writing and typing with this on, but I'm doing my best. I cringe every time I unintentionally make typos while wearing this wrist splint, and I can't type as fast as I used to.

I’m assuming you mean the Rowdyruff Boys (RRB)! As a continuation of this ask, similar to how I mentioned that there’s a bit of all the Powerpuff Girls (PPG) in Ran, Kazuha, and Aoko, there’s a bit of all the RRB in Shinichi, Heiji, and Kaito. (I know Gosho Boys includes Saguru, but there’s no fourth RRB, so let’s ignore Saguru for now.)

Normally, we can only base our perspective of the RRB on what’s been canonically revealed, but for the sake of my explanation as to why I view Shinichi as Brick, Heiji as Butch, and Kaito as Boomer, I’ll be referring to my headcanon of the older versions of the RRB.

I view Shinichi as Brick due to his intelligence and occasional sardonic humor. Shinichi’s been shown to be pretty witty with his inner (and outer) retorts in his form as Conan. Although he’s not often shown in his true form as a teenager, that aspect of his character is still very much a part of him. Brick, despite canonically being “dumb” when he was young, yet potentially growing to be as intelligent as (or more than) Blossom, can also be pretty sardonic himself and can have little to no filter, depending on the situation. Brick’s still a leader who can think on his feet and read the atmosphere, after all—much like how Shinichi can while in a child-like body.

I view Heiji as Butch due to his competitive nature and recklessness. This is similar to Butch’s personality where Butch has a tendency to focus on his adrenaline a lot, which can cause him to get tunnel vision, and doesn’t really think before acting. For example, during Heiji’s first appearance, Heiji was so caught up in competing with Shinichi to be the first to solve the murder case that he had lost sight of what really mattered, which was finding the true murderer. Heiji has also had his moments of recklessness throughout the series, aside from the canon moments where he just loses his cool and level-headedness when Kazuha’s involved.

I view Kaito as Boomer due to his charm and playful nature. Out of the three, Kaito’s probably the most openly perverted—in which case, you could even argue Kaito’s more like Butch—but what’s important to note here is how Kaito is like, especially as his dual persona as Kid the Phantom Thief. Kaito’s a natural charmer, he’s charismatic, and he could be easily seen as the most romantic since he knows how to get people to swoon—yet his identity as Kid is hidden in plain sight. Out of the RRB, Boomer’s the one that would be the charmer, especially since he’s the most approachable out of his brothers, so unless you knew his true identity, he wouldn’t be someone you’d suspect. Boomer can also be a mischievous individual, compared to his brothers, which is similar to Kaito and his occasional pranks.

I’m experimenting for now to see if this method will work. If it does, I can apply this same “due date” logic to my other fanfics. If it doesn’t, then I’ll just keep writing at my pace as usual.

Oooh, this is a fun ask! I do like the Powerpuff Girls and DCMK. Nice sleuthing there since DCMK is pretty buried on my Tumblr, and, uh, the only DCMK fanfic I’ve been working on is The Light of the Vampire.

Interestingly enough, I think your view’s pretty close to mine. From my perspective, I’d say that Ran’s close to Blossom, Kazuha’s close to Buttercup, and Aoko’s close to Bubbles. You could even argue that there’s a bit of all three in all the girls—and for most of us in real life—so all perspectives apply and are valid!

I view Ran as the closest to Blossom because of her maturity throughout the series. I know that part of the fandom dislikes her “whininess” and “crying,” but she takes Shinichi’s “disappearance” and AWOL-ness into such stride, and her showing her vulnerability is, to me, a sign of her strength. There have been other instances, such as her presumed beauty from others, yet her obliviousness at people’s attraction toward her—which I personally headcanon and can see happening to Blossom.

I view Kazuha as the closest to Buttercup because she’s someone who will fiercely protect and defend anyone who she loves and she cares deeply about her values. The biggest example here would be her pride in being an Osaka native—not to mention her temper. Compared to the other two, Kazuha struck me as the type of girl who was more likely to be outspoken. Aoyama doesn’t really touch much on what it’s like at Kaihou Academy or the other “friends” that Kazuha has—although they were briefly canonically mentioned—so it’s hard to say exactly how other characters (aside from Heiji and briefly Teruaki) in her life see her and how she interacts with others.

I view Aoko as the closest to Bubbles because despite being highly intelligent, she’s the one that’s canonically the most childish. In Japanese, she (occasionally) refers to herself in the third person as her pronouns (which emphasizes her “childishness”)—not to mention that her taste and preferences from what’s been shown have also been seen as cute rather than mature. I do agree with you that she’d probably be the most sensitive out of the three.

Yes, it’s for RGB—or, well, specifically the Greens in this case. Yes, it’s within the PPGZ fandom.

Hi, everyone! I hope you're all doing okay right now, given that we're still in a pandemic and all trying to get by.

Updates

If you've been following my posts, you might've noticed how I've been burnt out—not by writing, but really just a mixture of everything: real-life responsibilities, mental health, pandemic, and writing. Lately, I've been reflecting on my writing and wondering if I've been taking this fun hobby of mine too seriously to the point that it's affected my writing progress. (For the record, yes, it has, and being burnt out in a pandemic isn't great.) Despite that, I've still been slowly, steadily writing, and now, I feel a lot better.

Writing Status

The last time I posted about my writing, it was about using Trello for keeping track of my writing progress. Since then, I've migrated over to Notion because I needed an alternative to Trello that still let me did kanban, yet had enough flexibility in what I needed to do for keeping track of my fanfics.

After using Notion for a while and comparing it with the combination of Trello and Confluence, I went with Notion because, well, Confluence was overkill, Trello required me to upgrade if I wanted to use more features I'd like, and Notion turned out to be very powerful once I looked at two YouTube videos on how people used their Notion.

Notion has a powerful concept of pages within pages, so I had to rework my writing kanban from Trello into a much bigger picture, but this time surfacing the priority at this stage rather than the chapter stage as shown below.

Then, I followed the same kanban breakdown that I did in my Trello (e.g., Outline, Write, Revise, Published), but with individual chapters of each fanfic.

Doing it this way has allowed me to do other things I needed, like using Notion's calendar and table features, which helps me keep track of what goes on in my fanfics—especially when I need to take a much-needed break.

(Fun fact: I've seen some writers use Notion as an alternative to Scrivener, which is super cool.)

Okay, okay, okay… It's been a long while since I've done any sort of teasers, so I figured it's time for me to share. I thought about doing monthly teasers, but honestly, given my writing habits and how I've just recovered from being burnt out, I don't think I can handle that on my plate right now.

Before we dive into teasers, please remember that what you read may not end up being a part of the published version that I post online because, you know, I revise my writing before posting.

Secretive Curse

Chapter 13 has been finished for some time now, including its revision. However, Chapter 13 blends into Chapter 14, which is one of the important chapters in the story. This means that if things in Chapter 14 end up changing from how I originally planned or imagined it to be, Chapter 13 also gets affected.

Chapter 14 is a work-in-progress, and I've been trying to figure out how to write it the way I want, especially since it's what I've been imagining for years now. Since I haven't been satisfied yet with how Chapter 14 is turning out (despite its unfinished rough draft status), I've been reluctant with publishing Chapter 13.

That said, here's a little teaser of Chapter 13.

Truth be told, Kaoru was mad—at herself, really, instead of Miyako defending the boys. There was a part of her brain that told her that she should’ve known better, but look where she ended up: an ex-boyfriend who was now a supposedly powerful supervillain and could kill her if he had gotten the chance.

Within seconds, Kaoru chugged down a few more gulps of her coffee. She needed to stop thinking like that because, first and foremost, it wasn’t going to bring Butch back, and secondly, they were done—they were over, for God’s sake—and she made it clear that they couldn’t be together, but damn it all.

The Light of the Vampire

I finished the draft of Chapter 3 on February 3, and since then, it's been a slow, but steady revision state. (Remember when I said revising and editing these chapters are a beast in my A/N for Chapter 2? Yeah…)

I'm not sure when the next chapter will be up, but hey, I'm making some progress slowly (even though it’s still in its rough draft state).

Here are 3 teasers of Chapter 3 for all 3 ships.

ShinRan:

“I see.”

Ran expected him to finally leave at that point, but instead, she felt concern wash over her figure again when she saw him ponder for a few seconds.

“What about lunch, then? I’m more than happy to pay for your portion as well as a thank you for meeting with me.”

Ran felt her blood run colder at his statement. She wondered if he even realized what he could be implying from that statement alone, like any other high school girl would pick up on, but instead, he looked at her in a calm gaze as before.

HeiKazu:

“Wait, hang on, don’t you need to go to the kendo club?”

“They let me take the day off. Everyone’s focused on the upcoming practice matches, and judging how I only observed the last time I was there, it caused a big enough commotion that distracted everyone from their training. The captain wasn’t exactly happy about that.”

Kazuha blinked, remembering that Heiji joining the kendo club had spread like wildfire among his fan base at school. It even reached Kazuha’s ears because of how often everyone else had spoken about it. If that were the case, then of course it would’ve potentially caused some hindrance.

KaiAo:

“Oh, hey, Nakamori-san.”

Aoko blinked in surprise, this time turning to see Kaito. “Oh, Kuroba-san. Hello.”

“Looking at vitamins again?”

“Oh, uh… Yeah…” Aoko’s voice trailed off, and she wondered if she could leave again like she did last time. She didn’t think that she’d encounter anyone from her school—much less Kaito twice in a row from visiting this specific pharmacy. She turned her gaze back to Kaito, who had been smiling and looking at her with a curious gaze.

“So, I was wondering…”

“Yes?”

“Are you open to hanging out with me?”

Change of Heart

I’m still working on Chapter 7! Its rough draft isn’t done yet, but I hope this teaser will get you all excited for the next update.

Just then, he felt his head get dizzy, and he groaned, forcing himself to lie back down on his bed.

He let out a sigh and then tapped on Tsuyu’s name on LINE. Their chat history was empty, and there was a part of him that felt uneasy about messaging her, but as soon as he let out a coughing fit, he realized that hesitating would only delay his recovery.

Hey Tsuyu, he texted before waiting for a response. He hoped that she would reply soon because the more time passed, the fuzzier his head felt. Just then, he heard a ding.

Hey Bakugo.

Legend of the Mansion

I bet you didn’t expect this update, did you? I think most people wouldn’t—unless you’ve recently reread Legend of the Mansion and noticed its subtle differences, like the writing style. I don’t think I talk much about Legend of the Mansion, so I figure this is my chance to get this out.

I updated chapters 1–5 on FFN & AO3 to match my current writing style and made a few changes, but everything is still the same plot-wise. Does this mean that I’m picking this fanfic back up and removing it from hiatus?

…Yes. Yes, I am, but it’s still going to be low priority on my list. To be honest, I’ve actually been working on this fanfic on the down low whenever I was tired of, well, my current works-in-progress. Similar to Secretive Curse, I’ve had in mind what I planned for this fanfic for a long time, and because it’s been on the back of my mind for a long while, I ended up working on it.

I will say that moving forward, I’ll be releasing 3 chapters at a time, minus its conclusion. (Chapters 6 and 7 will be the exception because Chapter 5 is already published.) There are a total of 17 chapters planned—unless something pops up, and I end up removing 3 chapters from this (which I doubt).

That said, here’s a teaser of Chapter 6:

“Say, what brought you to this mansion, anyway? I never got to ask you that.”

Miyako hesitated to answer him because, deep down, she still felt uneasy about trusting him, especially since he was too playful and easy-going about their situation. She’d imagine that any normal person would be panicking. In fact, Miyako felt like panicking herself right now, but she knew she had to stay calm. Panicking in this situation wouldn’t do herself any good, and questioning the person she was stuck with wasn’t helping her at all.

Finally, she let out a shaky sigh. “I, um, came here as part of a bet with my two friends. Anyway, do you know how to leave?”

Boomer’s expression then turned blank.

Not going to lie, but I like a lot of Katsuyu posts, so I’m not sure who you are. (I’m a simple person: I see Katsuyu content, fanart, or comic, I click like.) That said, I do recognize Katsuyu artists, writers, and fellow fans when I see them (even the Japanese ones)—assuming that you all keep the same username, handle, icon, or profile pic.

Anyway, thank you for the compliments! I’m happy to hear that you’ve fallen in love with this ship. Seriously, this ship dynamic and its potential are amazing, and I’m still waiting for Horikoshi to give us more canon material than his official sketches—but hey, a fan can dream, right?

I don’t write much in the My Hero Academia fandom—and to be honest, My Hero Academia isn’t one of my top fandoms if I had to list them all—but it’s definitely great to hear that you don’t think they’re OOC. I have my headcanons on their characters, especially when they’re aged up as adults, and in Change of Heart, I do my best to write a realistic take on Katsuki and Tsuyu since there are no quirks, they’re all attending college as normal, they’re aged up as adults now, and some other elements that I can’t disclose because spoilers (aside from what’s already been disclosed in chapter 3).

Today, I wanted to share what I’ve been up to with my writing. I’ve been using Trello to improve my writing productivity. I modified kanban to fit my writing process, and this is what’s been working for me so far.

Note: Everything hidden under dark green rectangles are spoilers for potentially future fanfics. (Also, the screenshot above looks bad for some reason on my main Tumblr unless you see this post in the app. I’m not sure how to fix it.)

Nah, he isn’t. Shinichi and Ran are more like strangers or acquaintances to each other right now. Without their canon foundation and background (like what you mentioned as one example), it’d be hard for Shinichi to fall head over heels for Ran when he barely knows anything about her.

ShinRan will happen eventually—just not yet since we’re still early in the story! Same for HeiKazu and KaiAo, too.

Wow, another Tumblr ask about The Light of the Vampire! I was expecting maybe one or two reviews with the latest update, but this was another pleasant surprise.
