EXPOSURE
Exposure is the amount of light that is let into your sensor when taking an image, if a low amount of light is collected on the sensor then a picture will be darker, thus a picture with more light let in will appear brighter. The amount of light that meets the sensor is dependent on the shutter speed, aperture and iso levels.
Shutter speed
Noun; Photography
The nominal time for which a shutter is open at a given setting. Eg "the cameras shutter speed was set to 1/200 to capture the movement of the cyclist"
Aperture
Noun; Photography
A space through which light passes in an optical or photographic instrument, which can be altered to control how much light is let into the camera. Eg "a refracting telescope with an aperture of 3 inches"
ISO
Noun; Photography
The level of sensitivity of a camera to available light. Eg "the cameras iso was set to 200 in order to keep the image clear"
If the aperture, shutter speed and iso are all set to the correct settings an image will be correctly exposed, this is identifiable from a clear well lit photo with correct tones and colours.
