Hi everyone! I’m so excited to finally share “The Dressmaker”, a GShade preset born from my deep love for the movie of the same name. I wanted to capture that specific warm, dusty, and cinematic aesthetic that makes every scene so iconic.
This preset is designed for those who want to transform their game into a movie set, featuring amber tones and an atmosphere reminiscent of sunny afternoons and the charm of vintage dramas.
✨ The Inspiration
This preset turns the flat lighting of The Sims 4 into warm, vibrant photography. It’s crafted to highlight your Sims' facial features and fabric textures, as if they were ready for a close-up alongside Teddy and Tilly in the heart of the outback.
🛠️ Included Shaders
To achieve this look, I combined several shaders to balance sharpness and warmth:
• AmbientLight.fx: Creates a soft glow on skin and objects, making everything feel more ethereal.
• Vibrance.fx & Tint.fx: The core of the color palette, set to sepia/gold tones to warm up the entire scene.
• LumaSharpen.fx: Essential for making details like hair, tattoos, and facial features extremely crisp and defined.
• Vignette.fx: Adds a dark frame around the edges to focus attention on your subject.
💡 Customization & Tips
The preset is ready to use, but you can easily tweak it:
• Brightness: If you’re playing in very bright worlds (like Oasis Springs at noon) and the preset feels too "blown out," simply lower the alInt value under the AmbientLight.fx shader.
• Sharpness: If you prefer a softer, less "edgy" look, decrease the Sharp Strength in LumaSharpen.fx.
• Optional Shaders: Vignette and AmbientLight can be toggled off with a click if you prefer a more natural look for everyday gameplay.
⚠️ IMPORTANT: To avoid unwanted blurring (especially on hair!), remember to disable Edge Smoothing (Antialiasing) and Post-Processing Effects in your game’s graphics settings.
