Hyderabad has very few natural places nearby. There are Anantagiri Hills near Vikarabad and Srisailam in Andhra Pradesh. The Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple located in Srisailam is one of the 12 Jyotirlinga temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. I was following Srisailam weather from the last 10 days and it was showing rain on 2nd June from all that time that is when I decided to ride solo to this place on 2nd June.

On 1st June night I was late from office but I still wanted to start the ride early so I packed my stuff the night before itself. Few sneakers, an extra pair of clothes, water bottle, a mat, towel, fully charged Power Bank, bike repair kit, headset and one of my favorite novel.

Next day I woke up at 4:30 a.m. and slept again 😉😁. Then I woke up at 5 a.m. and what my intuition to sleep again. By 5:30 a.m. I was ready to ride to Srisailam. When I started from Gachibowli on ORR road, it started drizzling and I was cruising with lot comfort and awesome feeling.

I was loving the weather and ride so much and was driving way slow, following my eyes to everything I passed. By 7:30 a.m. I was very hungry and started looking for dhabas alongside Road. NH 765 doesn’t actually have any North Indian dhaba so I stopped at a dhaba near Veldanda village. Had tea and awesome palak masala dosa there. The place was very hygienic.

After a 30 minutes stop I started again at 8:30 a.m. By 9:30 a.m. I was at Mallela Theertham waterfall cross and due to my inability to read Telugu I crossed it. I was wondering why there were lots of hotels at that place and after going around 4-5 KM after I decided to stop and check Google Maps. Thank God I did that. When I found that there I had to turn to Mallela Theertham I came back to place and started on the dirt road to the waterfall.

After a 10 km ride on the dirt Road, I was at the waterfalls and it was worth all trouble. It was raining continuously from last 2 days and there was water in the waterfall. It is in middle of the dense Nallamala forest and a walk down 350 steps is required to reach there. The waterfall was not like a big one like you found in Himalayas but it was the quiet place and the water was very clean. I spent almost 2 hours there taking bath and roaming around.

At around 1 p.m. I came back to the the main highway and had lunch at a small dhaba there. Then again I started riding to Srisailam. After around 20 mins I was riding on the ghat roads and in the very dense Nallamala forest. It was drizzling and I was cruising with peace. I took a lot stop in jungle itself to capture photos and enjoy the views for high altitudes. By 2 p.m. I was at Srisailam Dam.

Spent around 30-40 mins there and then started for the temple which was very crowded So I went for darshan asap.

I kept riding for 2-3 hrs on the unknown roads around Srisailam to know more about the place. By 6 p.m. I started back to Hyderabad. Weather was still awesome but I was sad as wanted not to leave the place that soon. I should have stayed for 1 more day there. Maybe anyday later. However now it was time to say goodbye to Hills and Forest. Took a last capture there and head back to Hyderabad. I was back on the road in Nallamala Forest.

It was an awesome trip. The best time to visit this place is in rain season. That time you can enjoy waterfall too. There are few other places also to visit nearby so plan minimum 2 day trip.
