@deductiions replied to this post with . . . "This is... god awful."
❝ Are you insulting my art ? ? ❞
“Well, I was initially talking about the crude contents of the piece but now that you mention it, the proportions are completely off.”
“Don’t feign ignorance, you criminal! I know you’ve been involved with the recent string of bombings—and this proves it!” The detective digs inside of the handbag he had snatched from his culprit before pulling out a small device, a look of disdain on his face.
“A detonator. Admit it, you were the master mind all along!”
…
….
“What’s that? …Life alert, you say?” Sterling looks from the device and to the old woman who he had, just moments prior, hip tossed to the ground under the strong suspicion that she was his culprit. Adjusting his glasses, he observes the button once more.
“I see, well—ahem.” He presses the button on the device before placing it upon her stomach. “It is fortunate you have this on you at all times then. It was…an innocent misunderstanding that could have happened to anyone. I hope you recover quickly.” With a nod of his head, the detective begins heading in the opposite direction in a hurry, still no doubt determined to catch his true criminal! Minor setback. Clearly he had misread his vision.
❝ Wow . . . you sound like a major priss. ❞
❝ Uhhhh . . . no. I totally said weed. ❞
"Ah, so I misheard you is all---of course. Marijuana is nearly legal everywhere these days."
"CRYSTAL METH on the other hand! ...Incredibly addictive and illegal. Yes... certainly a good thing you're not mixed up with that business."
" Am I going insane, or is that really suspicious? " from Devi !

It was finally time he needed a new sketching pencil for his composites, he had unfortunately learned while fervently sketching the shape of the perpetrators nose he had seen in one of his visions and not being able to fully capture it. He suspects it has something to do with the now shrunken length of the pencil due to months of use or maybe the lead had been compromised after that last sharpening... either way, it was time he found a new one! And what better place to find a quality art utensil than an art supply store?
Sterling only finds himself looking up from his current decision when the erratic behaviour of a passerby captures his attention. He eyes the shifty looking fellow then as he makes his way through the store, head swiveling suspiciously as if he's about to do something he wants no one else to see.
"Certainly not. That is incredibly suspicious." The detective returns his selection before peeking out of the aisle so as not to lose sight of this man. "And I'm going to find out exactly what he's up to... probably a disgusting thief. Has he no decency? This establishment is family owned!"

❝ Fuck ! I don't want ANY children ! Can you IMAGINE ? ? The brats would go through my drawers and find my stash and eat my crystal meth like it's fuckin' rock candy. It stresses me out just thinking about it ! ❞
"While I'm sure there are benefits for some, the idea alone of the mess they leave behind is enough to be off-putting. I understand we were all children at one point but good grief! Snot? Drool? Changing diapers? Absolutely not." ...
.....
wait a minute.
"Did you say crystal meth?"
Sterling is very artistically inclined though his favorite things to draw or doodle have to be (obviously) composite sketches of suspects. It certainly helps when he's seen a unique feature in one of his visions, since his visions come to him in bits and pieces, so he can put those features together like a puzzle in hopes of formulating something comprehensive.
"Then what exact business do you have with a place like this? Other than wondering about the age and architecture of the property?"
Odd, it was rare for the actual government would come around to bother her Master. He didn't look like the usual human that was sent every ten years or so. And she knew he's appeared at least four times. Maybe once or twice more.
Eyes shifting, she took the being in front of her in slowly. Trying to figure out what exactly he was here for.
"Usually the government for England sends someone with a letter, before appearing."
“Straight to the point. I appreciate that. As for my involvement with the government, I am apart of no such thing. My work is done so privately." The detective explains, "Naturally, as I presume you reside here as well, you'd feel entitled to that information... I'm investigating a cold case that I've linked to this property, you see. It stood out to me in a vision." Sterling continues, any semblance of his friendly and curious demeanor from before melting away quickly, replaced by a rather cold and concentrated expression.
"I can't get into the details now but you must understand, it's imperative that I take a look around the property at the very least."
Seeing as the detective is pleased with his reward and her gratitude, Cataleya grins and goes to sit on the chair nearest the bookshelves.
If one were to look closer, the book collection is an eclectic mix of fiction and non-fiction. Fantasy and more realistic novels. Texts about history, language, culture, and more. Part of a shelf has been filled with tabletop roleplaying game resource books, Dungeons & Dragons and otherwise.
Most show signs of wear and tear, so they're certainly not for decoration.
"Coffee's ready!" declares Laelia and she comes back from the kitchen, a tray bearing three steaming mugs and a cream and sugar set in her hands. "If you take anything in yours, feel free to fix it how you like."
Two of the mugs seem to be personal favourites for the mother and daughter. One is pink with purple butterflies. The other is blue, with Cinnamaroll, the Sanrio mascot, on the side. The last, and the one meant for him, is white with flower designs scattered on the ceramic.
Once the tray is set down, Laelia takes a seat in the other armchair.
"Quite the reading collection you have there," Sterling comments, eyeing the shelf and its contents curiously. He had never been all that enthralled by fantasy but it was obvious this household contained big fans. "Would you believe I've never played Dungeons and Dragons before? I recall it being incredibly popular when I was younger."
Once Laelia returns and sets the tray down, it's easy to deduce which one is his. "Personally, I drink mine black. Thankyou." He leans over some to carefully pluck his designated mug up off of the tray by the handle and brings the bottom of the ceramic to rest upon his other hands gloved palm.
"Smells wonderful. Is this your own roast or a pre-made one?"
" Only fair if you intend to ask this much . Can't exactly sum it in a single breath . "
Or a sentence , for that matter . With how long they've been standing here might be best for them to take this conversation off the streets , maybe get on better terms before things spiral . She doesn't need the fae chewing on his shoes next .
"In that case, I know a cafe a couple of blocks from here. Their coffee isn't too terribly expensive like most places tend to be these days. Unless, you had a place in mind already?"

It was a dumb statement really, basic detective stuff. Shrugging at the response to the hairs and forensics, listening now to Sterling explain more about the thief. Still seemed like a petty character, not important enough to really note anything but who knows, maybe the person did more.
At the response to Sterling's decline on sitting on the bench, Francis went silent once more, staring at the man. Though his expression was seemingly calm, he was panicking internally. How can he convince the guy to stay outside, he seemed stubborn and most likely would not listen.
"I'm bringing you all the files, every file we have for you to look over. You really don't need to come inside for a task as mundane as that. I'm not doing any of the work for you." Did he even know what the building or this strip was? Probably not, at least he didn't react in any manner that indicated as such. "You don't work here, I do."
Watching as Sterling pulled out a notebook, looking over the detailed image that the man had drawn. It was impressive actually, even the smallest features were there. Staring at the image for a moment before looking over at Sterling. "Don't recognize him, I'm not one who really looks over the files we have often either." He didn't care for it.
"Look please.. wait outside, If it helps satisfy your need to be thorough I will bring in every file we have just.. wait here." He was almost begging at this point.
When the blonde elaborates that he plans on retrieving every file he can get his hands on, that seems to somewhat change Sterling's mind. He was under the impression that Francis would merely sift through them and bring him ones that he thought might be relevant and being the type of man who needed to maintain full control over whatever case it was he was working on, knowing something could be missed made him a bit cautious.
Even still... he's curious about what it is that Francis does that allows him to have possession over such important documents.
The detective closes his notebook after observing Francis's expression closely, concluding that he in fact didn't recognize the features presented to him. With an acknowledging nod, he tucks it back into his coat.
"Alright, fine." He concedes. "I will wait right here while you retrieve the files."
never preemptively comply. carry on audaciously.
how does your oc feel about getting older? scared, peaceful, excited? why?
(if they don't age, how do they feel about not growing old?)
❝ Somewhat understand. If I just ... manage to be confident and bold, then I can keep a job ? Oh, and never heard that before. Parents & their friends always told me it's good manners to apologize. And that good manners are important. To be polite, and kind to others ... compromise. Never been told that's weakness. ❞
"It's only good manners when it's absolutely necessary. Being polite and kind to others is important, sure, but it's more so about professionalism. You will find that others may appreciate you more if you're blunt and unapologetic when you mean business. Apologizing over menial things reeks of insecurity."
Around a quarter to 11 o'clock, Malcolm can be seen walking down the street with coffee in hand, his headphones on, and a tired look on his face. He slows a bit as he notices that the detective actually showed up, but keeps going, focusing on unlocking the door before answering him.
"Yeah, yeah, come in..." he says, pulling the headphones around his neck.
Malcolm takes a moment to turn on the lights and any signs, wanting to get his opening tasks done since that's why he's here in the first place.
Thankfully, no one else has shown up so far, so they can talk.
"Alright, I got information on the guy you're looking for, like I promised... Got a notebook or something on you?" he asks before sipping his coffee.
With a nod, Sterling follows Malcolm inside and decides to stand by the front counter while he waits for him to finish his morning tasks. He briefly peers at the watch on his wrist as he does so.
The moment Malcolm addresses him again with exactly what he wants to hear, his head snaps up with all the alertness of a hound that's just heard it's favorite phrase.
"Of course I do," Sterling answers almost immediately, slipping a notebook out of one of the inner pockets of his coat along with a pen. He presses the tip to the page, eyes intense and trained on Malcolm expectantly.

she doesn't sit, but steps forward and rests her hands on the back of the other chair. a beat of silence. louise looks more... tired than fully upset.
"right. not in person. but she telephoned my office looking to meet. it's not until a day or two from now, though." her brow furrowed as she tried to remember.
"she seemed very put together. i know that much."
Ernésto's eyes light up at what he perceives to be an opportunity and he's quick to slap that folder shut. "Oh, that's perfect! I caught you just in time. In that case, I believe the two of you should still meet...though I'd like to join you. Undercover, of course,” He makes sure to add with shifty eyes as he places the folder back down upon his desk. “—as she may recognize me otherwise. I need more information and if there are any inconsistencies in her statements, I can make for certain she does her time."
He circles his desk and approaches Louise with his head held high, confident in the plan he had just mapped out in his head. The pieces were falling into place.
"I believe with your assistance and my wit, justice will be served. What do you say? It sounds like a solid plan, does it not?"
