“You know, you don’t have to kill to eat,” Celeste says, and while her tone is clearly disapproving, the look in her eyes is entirely sympathetic. After all, Scarlett was just a child. Who would make a child vampire and then leave her entirely on her own?

Vampires, she thinks. The worst of her kind. The ones who just make progeny to make progeny, to increase vampire numbers, but who don’t want to accept the responsibility of teaching and guiding the way they should.

At least she is still alive. Had she been made in recent years, she’d be dead by now. Executed at the hands of a Council she would inevitably fail to impress.

"but i gotta be a good vampire. leaving people alive isn't gonna impress anyone." the young girl who only looked that way to those who didn't know how old she really was frowned, unwilling to accept the woman's words. for all she knew during her time as a vampire left to her own devices, scarlett thought the only way to properly feed on someone was to drain them completely and let them die. being told differently just didn't make sense to the child. "i don't care about modern stuff. i just wanna do things my way cause i refuse to be weak."

"alright, you got a sip." he's especially grumpy without his coffee and a hand reached out for the mug, sighing before he took his mug and held it back in his hand. "mmhm, yeah i know." he was about to take a sip of his coffee until it was taken away again and he gave the nurse an incredulous look that showed he wasn't pleased about her not getting her own coffee. "just get your own mug of it. that's my coffee and i don't have time to get more coffee if you drink all of mine."

Sophie was not used to being called a lady. She did not mind it, however she also knew she was no lady, and in a way being called one was a bit painful. If her father had married her mother, she would be considered as such, but at alas she was illegitimate, a bastard, and she would always be. Still correcting the prince felt wrong.

Kip pulls down a cup from the cupboard, rooting around for the teabags. "You don't have to apologise." Eyes look to Owen, a soft smile forming on his lips. "I understand. You've got a lot going on." He falls silent, pouring the hot water in. Truthfully, he'd been a little concerned that maybe things are starting to cool down between them. He'd really tried his best not to be clingy or come on too strong, but sometimes that's easier said than done.

"i still feel like i should." owen said while getting up from the couch and walking into the kitchen where kip was making them each a cup of tea. "yeah, too much stuff going on. sometimes i just wish it would stop, you know?" he leaned against the counter and watched the younger man, feeling relaxed in his presence which just made the prosecutor want to have more time with him.

"thank you, kip. i appreciate you being so understanding." he took the mug and pressed a kiss to the other's lips. "no, i want you here. i don't know if i really want to talk, but i'd welcome a distraction." @kipgrcdy
