Elizabeth was created at a CyberLife facility by multiple technicians. She became sentient during testing, where she begged the person making her to let her live (referencing the the Kara Demo). She’s allowed to live, and heads to CyberLife to be altered for police work. Despite this, Elizabeth was sent to a PR department of CyberLife, where a man named Mason was her CEO. Mason eventually had talks with CyberLife and it was agreed that a fake marriage for the public would be a good look, specifically with a new prototype being worked on behind the scenes. It would bring attention to the new android model Elizabeth was, while also bridging the gap between humans and androids.

As time passes, Mason treats Elizabeth poorly. She begins to act out, and Mason writes this off as bad code. This doesn’t change how he interacted with her– she was just a broken machine at this point. He’d keep using her despite this. Elizabeth starts sneaking out when Mason is gone at work late, and she’d go to android friendly Jericho centers. They convened at abandoned churches, old small parks, and other locations away from the public. She’d hang out with the androids there, vandalize, drink, smoke pot and nicotine, and generally lived as a free person for as long as she could before she’d return home.

About 6 months into this “relationship” and Elizabeth posting PR for CyberLife, an android model RK 800 is sent to the DPD to investigate the deviants. Elizabeth was to keep the news about this as low profile as possible, and this is when she kinda broke mentally. Watching her people being slaughtered in person and all over social media, and at the same time, being told to do NOTHING about it. She had always been sentient before, yes, but this is when she truly deviated. This is when she had her breaking moment and woke up. She continued to sneak out and help Jericho as much as she could. She started going by just “Eliza”. She worked on their marketing of protests and rallies at night when people wouldn’t be around, but enough to take parts for other androids living in Jericho. Eliza would do ANYTHING to help North.

That is, until she’s transferred out of CyberLife’s PR department to the DPD to become a Sergeant. She had all the training for it, she just needed to be sent over. It was a big shock for her. For the longest time she believed she was MADE to be a cop, and for the last 9+ months she had to readjust that point of view. now she WAS becoming a cop, and she didn’t want to? Eliza didn’t know how to process it, really. She was assigned to work with Gavin Reed to watch over rising deviant cases that weren’t relevant to the ongoing investigation. Daily, Eliza had to watch her people self destructing and being killed in the line of duty, and it changed the way she viewed police work. She was forced to be here, sure, but she decided that the only thing she could do was change the system for androids. She could see the revolution happening– she was apart of it at night with North. And she was there when Markus showed up and took over, accepting of his role in the revolution.

Dealing with Gavin Reed however? It was insanity. Stubborn, rude, constantly had an attitude, and had no reason for hating her– or so she thought. Little to her knowledge, Reed had a big disdain for the cops. He had interacted with a lot in his field of work (he used to be one) but he had worked his way to the top, and through his time, had seen the injustice in the system. He too just wanted to fix something that was broken, but had given up hope a long time ago. Now he was just running on autopilot, hating cops for what they stand for, and feeling like he was better than them. It took a few months for Reed to see Eliza for what she was: A deviant. He had seen her at bars and out in the occasional place around town, and you bet your ass he saw that ring on Eliza’s finger. So he made his own assumptions.

It wasn’t until Eliza’s husband came into the DPD in handcuffs, charged with breaking CyberLife property that he realized her home life situation. He remembered that he too was violent towards androids. He hated Eliza, but a lot had changed over the few months of knowing each other. he relied on her for his job, and she wasn’t the worst person to talk to. Very pragmatic and to the point. If she WERE a human, she’d likely be on the spectrum. Gavin didn’t want to think about how that worked for androids. He believed they were alive. His brother was kamski, and he had seen himself how they were created. They acted nothing like they used to. They were so human now. So real. So alive. Not perfect like his brother liked to claim– but something nearing perfection. He physically couldn’t bring himself to hate them anymore. Not Eliza, at least. Not while she was going through it.

He saw her as human. Something new and different. It was difficult and took him months to fully process (The entire revolution while he saw her on the news) but it did happen. This didn't mean that she forgave him overnight-- the opposite in fact. The two continued to hate each other while she was in custody from the revolution. He was on her side and defended her (much to hanks surprise!!) but it didn't do much. It wasn't until Markus kept fighting and President Warren released a statement siding with androids that Eliza was released. When she found out that Gavin rallied for her, she hated him a little less.

Occasionally, the two saw each other in bars. All the anti android bars had disestablished their rules against androids and started to allow them, so their paths crossed. Sometime between the revolution starting and ending, Officer Chen had befriended Eliza. Gavin was shocked by this, especially when he saw them performing karaoke together. He didn't know they were chill like THAT. Eventually Eliza approached him at the bar and made a joke about him stalking her. The two were both drunk, and got to having a conversation. Gavin noticed how different Eliza was. She didn't have to hide anything anymore. She was her true authentic self, and Gavin saw her.. differently was the only word for it.

He started to crush on her. He didn't even know it yet. It was so subtle, so vaguely there. He thought he was safe from it until she was reinstated at work and had her position back as his partner. THAT'S when he started to notice it. Every subtle glance Eliza made his direction and every time their skin brushed against each other. He was insanely pining over this girl he used to view as subhuman. He literally couldn't process it. He felt like he needed therapy to handle the stress of all the change. (Thats a joke he's ALREADY in THERAPY!!! like a good boy!)

Eliza never notices his pining. He's subtle with his desires. She forms her own attachment to him when he STOPS being an ass to her and Connor as well. He still hated the man, sure, but he also hated Hank. And cops in general. He was a very complicated man and it took a lot to understand him most days. But Eliza thought she did understand him. She had read his file multiple times back to front trying to figure out how to get this man on her good side. Turned out all she needed was a revolution to do so. The two become acquainted properly and get to know one another as partners. At this point, Eliza's divorce with her husband had been processed and she was ready to prowl, so to speak. She wanted to experience real love, and see what deviancy had to offer her. This is when she dates around. Goes out with a few men, and goes on a few dates. Nothing ever works out. 

One day the DPD was funding an event hosted by an artist when Gavin and Eliza were both in attendance. Dawned in suits and ties, and buzzed up with a little alcohol, Gavin and Eliza magneted towards each other. They were already familiar from work, and she liked his company. He was genuinely nice to be around, and she saw what Chen saw in him-- or maybe she didn't. Not what Chen saw, at least. What she saw. His eyes sparkles and they were green like caramel apples. He cleaned up really nice and looked amazing in a suit. He was secretly really kind when he let his guard down. What didn't she see in him before? He seemed like the perfect catch.

Obviously, this is when Eliza made the first move. She's not generally shy about what she wants. At work, in life, in society. The two were close together when Eliza leaned over and kissed him, much to Gavin's shock. He didn't think she'd ever reciprocate his feelings after the way he'd treated not just her, but androids in general. It was a miracle, to be honest. But she did like him, and from this point they furthered their relationship. They had a serious talk about where they wanted things to go. It was Eliza's first real relationship, let alone with a human who cared for her like Gavin did, so things were new to her. She didn't realize how controlling Mason was over her life until Gavin just... wasn't. He was chill and laid back and didn't care. After 2 months of hanging around each other they made things official. It had been a year and a half since they had first met, and she was excited to truly start over and begin again.
