⊲ Located within the rolling hills of Vermont, Eldrige University stands as an ivy league level university, and a sanctum for the supernatural to undergo their studies in relative ‘peace.’ Nestled within the university life is another, strange hidden world, a mirrored image of the campus itself. 'The Echo' lays in wait and sits, shrouded in secret. Eldrige University inherited its name in honour of its founder and their values, Lord Eldrige in the 1600s. The university stands to offer assistance and guidance its establishment to both the supernormal and the supernatural body who attend. These hallways, despite their modern fascia, are rich with the histories and regrets of the generations past who have immersed themselves in the pursuit of knowledge and kinship or perhaps something more sinister.... Although the allure of Eldrige presents an idyllic opportunity, it is also crowded by sealed ancient tomes and skeletons in closets. Beneath the façade, the whispers of infamous secretive societies remain. Some speculate their presence, patiently awaiting their opportune moment to strike. Their names are still uttered in quiet breaths within the shadowed corner of the ivy-laden campus.

“Well if it isn’t Miss Tanaka out after lights out” he said with a smile. The Slythering Prefect said as he moved toward the lake. He looked around and noticed a couple of other kids and then just turned back to the brunette just in front of him. He stretched out his shoulders and then cracked his neck before sitting down near the water himself. 

“If you get caught then you deserve detention and if you say I saw you and didn’t tell...” he shrugged as he took out a cigarette and went to light it with a wave of his hand “no one is going to believe you.” his smile was so feline one would almost swear he was an animagus... “Want one?” he offered with his still in his mouth. 

It was a new moon that night, there was a bite to the air that was so proper of the end of spring when it happened. Magic.

When a child is born people usually expect some kind of cheering, some emotion, some warmth to come from the new parents. However on that cold June night two children (under the astrological sign of Gemini, of all things) were born. First came the biggest one, a boy, with dark hair and a loud cry and then a couple of minutes later a smaller boy, barely breathing with the same unruly dark hair but paler skin. This should have been happy times but when you are the children of a marriage that lacked in everything that makes you feel good it was only a moment of decisions. Pollux Altair and Castor Kiran Lacounte were the cement that was needed to seal their parent’s fate. They put the nail in a coffin that shouldn’t have been a coffin at all. The Lacounte twins were merely a decision, not a light to be held up at night which made the choosing of their names all the more ironic.

However there was light in both children and it shone brightly enough to even gander a bit of affection from a cold and ruthless father. Early on in life Pollux learned that if you want to survive you have to be smart about it. Lying became a way of life for him and he was good at it. He needed to lie to protect himself, to be the perfect son and also to protect his younger twin who was much too soft spoken and much too kind to have been born to two people who were nothing but harsh. Pollux could mask his kindness, make it seem cold in his parent’s eyes and be the center of attention when Castor needed to not have eyes on him. He did everything in his power to ensure his twin’s safety and then the safety of the siblings that followed.

If there was ever an easy house choosing ceremony it was Pollux Altair. There was no hesitation, not a single moment wasted because he knew from the moment he had been born that he belonged in Slytherin. The only moment of perceived doubt was when he asked silently for his brother to be sorted into Slytherin too.

“Please” he had whispered “or father will be angry. Please sort my brother in our house. I will guide him there. Sort my twin in Slytherin”

So the hat did and the only thing that he whispered to Castor Kiran when the hat was put atop his head was this:

“In Slytherin you go, the house where blood is always thicker than water”
