It was a good show. WWE's biggest show of the year isn't going to be a banger every year. What they deliver is entertainment. Forget it's a wrestling show, if you want wrestling watch AEW, Mania is about the top stars in the wrestling world having matches and moments they will resell and repackage for the rest of the year until the road to WrestleMania begins with the Royal Rumble in January.

Night one opened with a six man tag and post match had the leap of faith top rope dive to the outside by IShowSpeed who came crashing down on Logan Paul through a table.

Paige retuned to win the women's tag titles with Brie Bella. Gunther best Rollins with help from Bron Breakker. Cody pinned Orton to retain his title and gets attacked right after.

Night two had Oba win over Lesnar. Lesnar leaves his boots on the mat, signaling the end of his in ring career.

Trick wins the US title. Ripley wins the SmackDown women's title. Roman wins the World Heavyweight Title. Night two had more buzz going for it. Both nights had all the bells and whistles you expect from WWE's signature show of the year.

What this year's Mania lacked was great matches and the cool moments lacked, they were here and there, few and far between.

April 18 and 19, 2026

Night one:

Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes defends against Randy Orton: Cody

I tossed a coin and it landed on Cody retaining. I don't see Cody losing 2 Manias in a row. Orton's been very good as a role player in the upper mid-card for the last 5 years. He doesn't need another title win, his legacy is cemented, top 5 in WWE of the last 25 years.

Women’s World Champion Stephanie Vaquer defends against Liv Morgan: Vaquer

They're going with Vaquer. Liv's had her time on top, she wins another one down the road but not here.

Seth Rollins vs. Gunther: Rollins

This match could steal the show. I don't see a returning Rollins losing.

Women’s Intercontinental Champion AJ Lee defends against Becky Lynch: Becky

I don't remember AJ defending her IC title since winning it. Becky should win to keep the title moving forward.

Women’s Tag Team Champions Nia Jax & Lash Legend defend against Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss, The Bella Twins, and Bayley & Lyra Valkyria: Bayley and Lyra

If Roman wins that means the belt will be gone and only defended on the bigger shows later this year. I don't see this happening.

Jade's great but Rhea's the top women's star.

Finn Balor vs. Dominik Mysterio: Finn

Finn needs the push. He's out of the group and should be back in the upper mid-card mix.

United States Champion Sami Zayn defends against Trick Williams:

Trick's the new star. He could be a top star by next year.

Brock Lesnar vs. Oba Femi: Oba

It's time for them to invest in future stars. Brock's in-ring career is winding down.

With all the money behind it, it better be a good show. It's the road to WrestleMania and the last big show before Mania is Elimination Chamber. I think it was a better show than this year's Royal Rumble.

Rhea won the women's chamber match to open the show. It's no surprise since she's the face of their women's division. This setups up a match with Jade Cargill at Mania. It's going to be interesting because on paper it's an odd matchup.

AJ's Women's IC title win was a nice surprise. Punk vs Balor was ok. It could have been a match on Raw so it's filler on this card, I don't think they needed a world title match for this event, if they needed one, Drew could have had a match where Cody interferes, it adds more layers to their upcoming match on SmackDown.

Danhausen debuts. Not sure what this does. Halloween is so much later in the year. It made me feel like they are really letting me know that I'm not part of their target audience.

Randy Orton surprise wins the men's chamber match. It played out well, I wasn't expecting it. The sequence that led to the pin was pretty cool. It's like watching some sport where the points were scored after someone fumbled and someone else hit a miraculous shot.

Who are the new stars?

John Cena retired at the end of 2025 and AJ Styles at Royal Rumble 2026. Reigns faces CM Punk at WrestleMania after winning the Men's Royal Rumble and Liv Morgan will face Stephanie Vaquer for the Raw Women's title. Cody is a favorite to win the Men's Elimination Chamber match and this sets up a rematch with Drew. This is WWE in 2026 so they have 12 titles and about half of them will probably be on some type of match at WrestleMania, most likely in multiple person matches, yes more triple threats and spot fest ladder matches, that no one will remember until it's brought up in some highlight reel countdown.

The John Cena retirement tour was a year long story without a lot of holes in it, holes big enough to put so many "why's" and "that didn't make any sense" in.

The heel turn, dropping the heel turn suddenly right before he loses the title back to Cody Rhodes, jobbing to Brock Lesnar, short IC title run and his last match, losing to Gunther, at Saturday Night's Main Event in December.

The Elimination Chamber 2025 was the highlight of John Cena's final run, the star power of The Rock and Travis Scott helped get the hot crowd even louder! The WrestleMania main event with Cody was not WrestleMania material.

AJ Styles was mid-card the last 5 year but was a top 5 performer in a WWE ring in the last decade. He won a number of top titles early in his WWE career and had high profile matches later on with the likes of The Undertaker and Logan Paul. He was Undertaker's last match. Same with Cena, his last match was a loss to Gunther.

Politics have no business in entertainment and sports!

I'm Filipino. American football and the Superbowl means jack shit in the Philippines and I'm confident in saying, it means jack shit too for the rest of Asia.

The Superbowl is one of those very American things that for the most part only Americans get. It's not cartoons or music to shake your ass to. It's something by America, for America and in America. It's like Bob Dylan. I can't wrap my head around what makes him great. He is a product of being American and making it big and becoming of one the faces of an era of pop culture. I'm not into it. I'm not going to sit down and relax on a Sunday morning listening to some Bob Dylan. No. Not for me.

You have these giant men in spandex, wearing a helmet and protective sports gear colliding with other players while one of the players try to bring the ball with them to the other end of the field to score a touchdown. Tons of money involved in this sport, so much money that when they take some time off in the middle of the game, they start a program called the half-time show.

For those who don't know, the Superbowl halftime show is pretty much Disney on ice on steroids, where every whimsical thing a musical artist can think of is performed on an elaborate stage with theatrics and dance choreography. It's literally quite hypnotic watching one of these entertainment numbers. It's like watching an action movie set in Las Vegas where there's so much explosions and sex appeal that it leaves you numb when it's over. One thing is for sure, you just know it's going to be talked about the next day in American media.

2026 had Bad Bunny perform the half time show. I don't get him too. He joined WWE for a couple high profile appearances. That's when I first heard of him. I remember checking his music out right after and it just made me feel old. Not uncool but old. It definitely wasn't for my age group.

I describe his music as hipster Latino Drake urban music. I'd pick Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga and Lana del Rey over Bad Bunny any day of the week. His Superbowl show was quite a visual and it was entertaining enough for a casual viewer like me. I'd give it 7.5 out of 10.

Since we are living now in a dual reality with the liberals vs the far right being a thing in America and everything becoming a political debate about one side or the other about every damn thing you can think of. The Superbowl was not spared, of course it wasn't, it's America's favorite past time. This and bleeding politics into everything nowadays is the new shit. I wish I can say I don't care but that's another story.

The Bad Bunny performance was a spectacle. All Superbowl half time shows are projected to be this way and this was no different. I saw it on my feed, it was interesting for a second. The alternative show the MAGA side put out was lame in comparison. You have a rockstar from 25 years ago rapping. This was a throwback Thursday for the ages. Nü metal is dad metal. I know he did it for the nookie. Kid Rock's swag from all those years did not age well at all. The rest of the performers were a who's who of who.

John Cena Retirement Tour

People forget that Cena's been part-time performer since late 2015 and he's been semi-retired the last 6-7 years so this farewell tour was more like a goodbye again.

The John Cena character from 2004, on his way to his first WWE title was an updated Vanilla Ice and a cross between Eminem and Fred Durst. It's white culture representation of urban black ghetto. It's almost as edgy as Durag Vince.

Let's go right into Cena's final year in WWE. He makes the announcement and declared for the Rumble, which he was runner up to Jey Uso. This was corny. Cena was dork like in his mannerism, maybe this was the idea all along, him just being him. No more rapping and mean mugging, just a pro wrestler in jorts.

Just to add, the presentation for this year long farewell tour was formal. It sucked the fun out of it. Cena wins Elimination Chamber and turns heel. Cody vs Cena at Mania was meh. 3 stars at best. Crowd wanted Cody to lose so they cheered when he lost.

We get Cena defending the belt against Orton, Punk and a tag match with Logan against Cody and Jey in the following PLEs. Cena turns face for SummerSlam and losses the title to Cody. Then Cena jobs to Brock. Cena wins the IC title then losses it back to Dom at Survivor Series. We get the last match with Gunther that Cena losses and that's a wrap.

There was no underlying theme throughout the whole ordeal, it was like the better stuff happened after he turned face right before SummerSlam. The whole stretch to get to his last match had many weird moments. Cena could have been heel-like in his pursuit for his 17th world title.

Heel Cena was parts Hollywood Hogan and Hollywood Rock. When you look at those shows Cena was heel, they sold well, it's WWE after all, it's on somewhere all the time. It didn't have what makes the classics remembered, it's going to be remember as something that happened and they experimented and got mixed results.

Cena wraps up his career this month, December 2025

Vs Big Show, US Title, WM20: His first Mania. This was the launching pad for the year long build to his first WWE title the following Mania.

Vs RVD, WWE Title, One Night Stand 2006: The hostile ECW crowd made this match. a memorable one for the both of them.

Vs Edge, WWE Title TLC match, Unforgiven 2006: Edge was one of Cena's best rivals. Edge in a TLC match doesn't disappoint and Cena delivers and wins the title back.

Vs Shawn Michaels, WWE title, WM23: Very physical match that almost lasted 30 minutes.

Podcaster vs active player

Something funny unraveled in one of those basketball podcasts, where everyone is yelling at each other. What went down is Golden State's Draymond Green was mentioned and they were comparing players, teams and stats or whatever, which they always do in these podcasts and it's the one Kenyon Martin's in and hurtful things were said and they went back and forth about it.

For those who don't know, Kenyon Martin is a retired former NBA player. The heated exchange between the two produced fun segments in the podcast Martin is in, where he lambasted Green for being a role player who was lucky to play with Stephen Curry and the Warriors team that won four championships.

This beef was odd drama. Martin was not an elite scorer, his career average is 12.3. He's acting all mighty and superior over Green in this category. Green's career average is a few points below Martin.

What makes this more odd is Green won 4 titles, he was a key player for the Warriors and he was an elite defender. Martin made it to the Finals twice with New Jersey Nets and those trips did not produce a championship. Green was a more accomplished player than Martin, he was more effective and his role helped his team win. Stats don't tell the whole story.

What built my taste in music and iconic moments in rock and metal music and culture remembered...

Untouchables came out in 2002. Korn's new album was released pretty much towards the end of the Nü metal phase in rock music. White Stripes will lead the pack of garage rock revivalists when they unleash Seven Nation Army in early 2003.

This was Korn when Jonathan Davis was using the bad ass mic stand HR Geiger designed. The music had attitude, a bit of goth shit in it and some of that heavy groove bands like Pantera have.

Korn was so big they had their own touring festival, Family Values Tour, and it was successful enough they didn't need to hop on those early years peak Nü-metal OzzFest.

The league's teams have played a dozen or so games to start the new season and if the playoffs were to start now, these are the top four teams: OKC Thunder, Pistons, Nuggets and Cavs.

OKC looking very dominant early on and if they keep at this pace they are winning at least 70 games for the season, top seed and all.

Pistons and Cavs are top guns in the East. Denver Nuggets is the new San Antonio Spurs, very consistent the last 5 years and they'll be that way as long as they have Joker.

Leading scorer is Laker's Doncic (34.4 ppg). Here's the rest of the stats leaders:

Jokic (Denver) 11.1 apg and 13.4 rpg. Yes, he leads the league in both assists and rebounds per game.
