The Returned

This never went anywhere. It was too stiff and it didn't bring anything new to the table in terms of my artwork history. I kind of want to continue exploring this messy and loose hairstyle I really liked.

A very brief adventure with those bleeding necklace concepts that were becoming popular again when I had started this artwork. I think this is another work that I should circle back to.

So I shrunk it down a tiny bit. It's not even all that impressive, it's just that I put a chromatic noise filter on it.

I actually thing that past me did a decent job of showing motion here. I constantly think about whether or not I want to redo this one work.

I don't know if this is really mature things or just... nudity for the sake of not wanting to draw clothes. Don't look at my feet, please. I've grown since then.

It was meant to mimic album covers but it's also pretty good as a standalone illustration.

Instead of focusing on Aria once again for an artwork in a series, I brought in more light and also a different character under the name of Mayuki wielding her favourite sword. Learning proportions a bit more and perspective was definitely an experiment here but once again 3D models have come to save the day for me. I still deviated a little to bring a little more strength behind Mayuki’s stance over her “evil self”.

Continuing with the series of songs inspiring art. Red by Calliope Mori was honestly such an amazing song that I could listen to for months straight and be totally okay with it. Also just revisiting an old thought of sludge that pools toward a certain person and acts like a barrier? chefs kiss

They really mean it that you can find inspiration in music. It sounds a little dumb at times but I found inspiration for this one in “Hayloft” by Mother Mother (to be specific, the version featuring Miku and Gumi by Joe Swensen). I’m just a little disappointed I can’t post my transparent background images anywhere anymore… :’) I’ll just have to start putting backgrounds on things.
