shikamaru

     it felt really weird that, just the last summer felt so different than this one, like heaven and hell. 

one fateful day he has found the world, and another one, not long after, he lost them. without warning too. 

it took him a long time to understand, to figure out the reasons why. even today, shikamaru can’t stop himself from asking why does things happen? why did someone decided to leave when, when he thought things were okay, when he thought they still have time, why? he spent so much time thinking that he felt stuck. his friends told him that reasons aren’t important--- and some of it probably the most unjustifiable reasons too, something he can’t comprehend, can’t process at all.

a soft tap on the table pulls him away from his thoughts, briefly looking up at the same grumpy waiter who perfunctorily tells him to enjoy his coffee. shikamaru muttered a thanks as he watched the other walk away and then at the steaming hot cup of coffee, right next to it was a faded brown folder.

index finger tapping for a couple of moments before shikamaru huffs a breath and decided to open the folder; revealing dozens of pictures and in that moment he was overcome by those feelings he thought he buried so deeply, his vision began to blur and he felt choked up.
