MORE GOOD NEWS!!!
Please protest!!!! It genuinely gets results!!!!!
Small wins but wins nonetheless
dont get me wrong, its great that pradhan resigned and all, but i cant help but think that the only reason that this protest reached its (toothless) goal is because of how a lot of the people involved in it and heading it were privileged UC/middle-class people who although politically opposed to BJP were ideologically aligned with it. thats the only reason their voices were heard, that it was so widely televised in comparison to the trans bill protests or ken-batwa etc. this protest was just a drop in the ocean compared to the CAA NRC protests and farmers protests and what have you. his resignation was dipke's only goal, and the only reason a lot of the involved students spoke up is to get the situation back to the status quo. i hope you all remember that the education system in india needs radical change. the entire system of neet and competitive exams is flawed. and the resignation of dharmendra pradhan is in the end simply to appease, it does not contribute much to any meaningful, necessary radical change.
dont stop fighting.
GOOD NEWS!!!! GOVT IS STARTING TALKS WITH KEN BETWA PROTESTORS ALSO!!!!!
But I get what you are trying to say!!!!
holy shit he actually resigned...
I mean, massive win first of all ! After years of struggle the govt actually listened for once.
Just goes to show how powerful protests can be. But our work is still not done. This is only a small crack in a massive wall.
Chapters on nazism, mughals, german and french revolutions, and evolution have been removed from class 9 and 10 textbooks.
But it can change.
Farmers are still committing suicide. Tribals are still being killed. Forests are still being cut down. The economy is still in shambles. The lgbtq+ community still faces hate crimes.
But it can change.
Religious minorities are still being pushed out. Women are not yet safe. Children are not yet safe.
But it will change.
Our roads are still unclean. Our air is still polluted. Our temperature is still rising.
But we can change.
This moment should not satisfy you. But it should fill you with hope. It should fill you with resolve.
As always, speak up, and vote in the elections.
highest judicial authority in india btw
for those unaware today india experienced one of its biggest protests in half a decade. there were protests all over the nation for various causes but the major one was in delhi. all we asked for was the resignation of the education minister because he's failed the students of this nation time & time again. but we were met with brutality, the police had barricaded the main site of protest (jantar mantar). metro stations were shutdown, the public was restrained from reaching the protest site and all the adjoining areas had signal jammers to make sure the crowd had no access to constant updates. they had us blocked from all the sides. they were lathi (baton) charging students from one side & releasing tear gas from the other. you couldn't walk 100 m on streets without having a tear gas shell thrown at you. there were many students, women & kids bleeding â some from their head. some couldn't walk anymore. the police had removed their nameplates, covered their faces & acted with full impunity to resort to unprecedented levels of violence. they were pelting stones at us, beating up people for no reason, forcefully detaining them and attacking us constantly with tear gas & rubber bullets. they wouldn't let you exit either. the crowd was peaceful & looking out for each other yet they were met with violence. i made a friend who was all alone & she asked to join me & my friend because a policeman wouldn't leave her alone. he constantly prodded her for personal info, invited her back to the jeep saying they have food there, wouldn't stop following her around. you couldn't call or ask anyone for help, we were left to fend for ourselves & be on a constant lookout if you did not want to be beaten up to death by police. all for what? asking a resignation? shame on this country.
another personal experience by an oomf who is a surgery resident and was there to help students with medical aid

first in my bloodline to switch off the national news channels to watch accurate news through doomscrolling
i need indian youth to remember this anger and hold on to it and make sure that this time you stand up for muslims, dalits, trans community, framers, manipur and student activists the same way next time. now that you've seen how barbaric our police is, always remember that its first victim is minorities & it is our responsibility to let them know that we will not let that happen. when they come for them you stop the ball there itself.
few updates you guys need to know about what's happening as an aftermath of 20th july & still the continued protest-
⢠they've started detaining students liberally. if you're going to the protest or coming from it they're very likely to detain you (the police has spread it check points all across central delhi). you'll be denied entry by auto or even walk, they'll either try to scare you away or detain you. if you're coming from other state especially by railway you'll be asked what are you here for & be asked to prove it.
⢠the government has blocked 18 metro stations surrounding jantar mantar. for some reason they're also covering up janpath & other nearby metro stations. all entrances to jantar mantar have been closed off & a complete internet shutdown near jantar mantar.
⢠they are denying lawyers contact with their clients. they've also been denied entry in police station to speak to their clients, that inspector has apologized as of now & an internal investigation for his behaviour is said to have started.
⢠they're also making sure that the protesters have no access to food, water or electricity. last night electricity supply to janpath was cut off ++ the police are now stopping delivery men at check points & seizing food ordered by supporters from all across the country. they're also threatening restaurant owners against delivering food to the protest site.
⢠cafes & shops in connaught place have been given a legal notice to shut down by 6 (since many of them were providing free water & washroom services to protesters). even nearby hotels have denied room booking to doctors.
⢠many creators have been offered money to speak against the protest & start a hate campaign.
⢠we are under complete state surveillance. the police is using meta ai glasses to record the protesters, and is later running a facial recognition check on them.
anyways if you're still planning to go this weekend because no more office & let's be honest none of us will stop showing our support no matter how much they try to scare us, here are few things you should remember & the resource links in case you need any help.
yeah because this is our main priority right now. right right

All this "Well the re exam was scheduled what does it matter now" rhetoric is really pissing me off. Anyone saying this don't understand how this exam sucks the soul out of you and leaves you with a shell of what you were. This exam demands everything, time, life, hobbies, friends everything. You only see life passing by from your desk. Skipping all the holidays, weddings, festivals, outings with friends just to hit that 650+ score on your mock exams. The constant comparison with your batchmates and relative's kids over marks, feeling like an imposter, parents even controlling who you can talk to, be friends with, seeing your parents sacrifice everything to provide you the best environment to study, taunts from relatives and neighbours, after all of this it's really hard for a 15-16 year old to not tie this exam with their self worth. This exam is the only thing and everything anyone entering this exam has ever known. You hear news of your friends/batchmates committing suicide still you cannot stop for a minute to cope with it you have to keep studying. Sometimes you'll hear about the death of a friend who was in medical college, achieved everything you wanted and still. Even after doing everything, sacrificing everything, there's no sureity you'll get in because the passing rate is only 1.36%. and no there are no 1 lakh seats for passing not for the majority of the students in the country, they can't afford it, there are only 20-30k government seats. So out of 2.2 million students taking this exam only 20-30k students would achieve this dream. Rest all would have to gather the courage to either leave this race or try again and trust me it's not easy to willingly go back in again after knowing how hard it is but it's also not easy to leave because this is everything you have ever known, you don't know what to do if not this. Everyone saying "oh it's not a big deal you have already prepared for it just give it again" haven't lost their friends in this race, haven't had their younger cousins calling them at midnight crying because they are scared they won't pass, because they feel too dumb for this exam, haven't given their life to this exam finally scoring enough to leave victorious only for that dream to be snatched and have to go through it once again.
I have faced the anxiety when the 2018 cbse 10th mathematics exam was leaked. I have given four years of my life to NEET. I have cried over this exam and consoled my friends who have cried over this exam. I have lost batchmates because of this exam. I have sat there fingers crossed when the NEET 2022 exam was leaked, praying my hardwork wouldn't go to waste. I think I am a very resilient person but this exam still managed to scare me so much I'd get dreams of failing it even after years of passing it. I really want this to stop now. I don't wish this upon even my worst enemy. It's been 8 years since I passed my 10th board exam enough time for this shit to end. We need a better education system and a better government.
