The show implies that Rimmer thinks of himself as "Arnie", and he'd actually really like for someone else to call him that but he's not going to just ASK for it 🙄

book!rimmer lying about his first time to lister and thinking about how he’s like a fish out of water with women and has a low sex drive with something utterly ridiculous to blame it on. does he naturally have a low sex drive? does he just think that’s what’s up because he’s never had satisfying experiences with women? is he gay and not interested in women at all? all of the above? he sabotaged his own fantasy life because he acknowledges that he thinks he deserves punishment and unhappiness, and that includes his fantasy relationships. he then ends up in a woman’s body while he watches a man inhabit his and feels funny deep in his stomach. the only thing i know he needs for sure is therapy, but he may also need to sample some cock. or just, y’know, any sex that’s actually good.

Really wish they'd brought back the observation dome scenes for S10/X onwards in red dwarf. It was a great third space, showed the emptiness of their situation really well, and put it all into perspective tbh. Also the specific theme music was one of the best in the show
