Also, some sights from today's walks around town. Very curious about the ironwork on the 11 M Cleaners building that reads "Eliot"!

I am on a quest to find DC's equivalent of the Paseo sandwich from Seattle, aided by the good people of MetaFilter.
The Kingston sandwich from SUNdeVICH isn't it, but it's a darn good sandwich anyway. This one has a much lighter and more refreshing flavor. The jerk chicken is a little dry but the garlic mayo - actually not dissimilar from the sauce at Paseo - helps, and the veggie slaw makes it a bit reminiscent of a banh mi. Which meant that it got a healthy dose from the bottle of sriracha sauce on the table.
One of the more unusual DC views is the view from Hains Point. To get there, we walked through The Forbidden Zone and past the Tidal Basin to a part of the city that nature seemed to have taken over. People were fishing all along the river and grass was growing between the cracks in the sidewalk.
We also enjoyed some solid mini golfing and $4 Goose Island drafts at the snack bar. Not bad!
I randomly caught a glimpse of this AC/DC pinball machine in the window of Solly's Tavern the other day. This is apparently a special limited edition machine with only 500 produced.
"1100 New York Avenue is a high-rise office building located in Northwest, Washington, D.C. in the United States. The 12-floor building was designed by Keyes Condon Florance Eichbaum Esocoff King and completed in 1991, and rises to 156 feet (48 m). The art deco facade at the north entrance of the building is a former Greyhound Lines station originally constructed in 1940. The office structure was built on top of the bus depot. A small exhibit on antique buses is located in the north lobby."

In addition to Capitol City Brewing, one of 1100 New York Avenue's interesting tenants is Cort Furniture Rental, which appears to have a bar inside it. I wonder if it was a diner at some point, or if I'm actually looking at some part of the bus station?

This house!
I tried to take a photo of the atomic clock time, but the refresh rate was faster than my phone camera's.
The view from House of Sweden, which is a pretty cool location in general.
One of my favorite DC oddities is 2737 Cathedral Ave. It's an empty lot, but this little sign states that it's property of the embassy of the Republic of Benin. It's listed as the mailing address for the embassy in several places online, but I'm not sure there is even a mailbox.

every Metro station has its quirks, whether by dint of geographic location or interior decoration. True, you won’t find any buskers peddling their arts in our subterranean train routes—that’s prohibited by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Agency—but there are still plenty of Metro...
