This one admittedly was frustrating, and I think you can see the different layers all trying to speak at once. It’s chaotic, and the darker, bold colors feel more angry. Weirdly, a fitting contrast to the first of this abstract series. I tried to keep some of the same motifs but definitely fed into the emotion here. Not quite sure how to feel about it yet, but I think ultimately it’s worth showcasing.

Ever since I graduated in June, the idea of art + design had been overwhelming. Something I once loved was now intimidating, and my passion was being weighed down by the idea of perfection. I spent so much time cleaning up my art and making it accessible that I had lost my identity. Earlier this year, with the help of a long time friend and collaborator, I started at Square One, but still felt like there was a wall that was blocking my art. Tonight, I wanted to change that. This piece was built on the very idea of being abstract to force my mind to break through this creative barrier. Though digital art is still not something I feel ready to jump back into, painting helps me feel more myself and able to find my creative identity again. Thank you for going on this journey with me.
