A better wash and go from December 2018. Still a work in progress.
My first attempt at a real Wash and Go back in July 2018. Definitely a work in progress when it comes to mastering this hair style.
My Wash Day Routine
Here is my typical wash day routine that I do about once a week.
Step 1:Section hair and detangle with a spray bottle of water, Aunt Jackie’s Knot On My Watch, and a wide tooth comb.
Step 2: Apply Coconut Oil to hair, put on a plastic cap and leave in hair for half an hour. (This is when you prepoo!!!)
Step 3: Hop in the shower and rinse hair with warm water. In sections apply cowash (I like Carol’s Daughter Hair Milk or Wen-Fig, Pomegranate, or Tea Tree). Scrub scalp with a vibrating shampoo brush (Vitagoods or Vanity Planet). With your fingers, a wide tooth comb, or a detangling shampoo brush, detangle hair in sections(I like to do 3 or 4). Rinse hair with lukewarm water and hop out of the shower.
Step 4: While Hair is still dripping wet apply deep conditioner of choice and put on a plastic cap. Heat thermal head cap (Hot Head) or sit under hooded dryer for 30-45 minutes.
Step 5: Rinse hair with cold water in the sink and do the LOC or LCO method on hair. Put hair in a microfiber towel and then style hair as usual.
I might do a post on how I usually style my hair later but this is my basic wash day routine. Keep in mind I shampoo my hair once every 4 to 6 weeks because I don’t want to dry my hair out and I don’t get that much product build up to begin with. This is what works for me and my schedule but what you might do is completely different. Everyone’s hair is different!
A twist out on blown out hair that turned into a wash n go on it’s own throughout the week. The shrinkage was real!

14 inch Goddess Crochet Locs Summer 2018
Hair post braids 2017 and 2018. My hair has grown so much in a year! (I am also wearing the same shirt which was an accident 😂).
Pre-Poo?
What is Pre-poo? Pre-poo is basically a conditioning treatment you give to your hair before you shampoo. So, when you do shampoo your hair the pre-poo acts as a barrier and help you maintain moisture during the shampoo process.
Why do you Pre-poo? :
It acts as a barrier protecting your hair from all the harshness of the shampoo
It leaves your hair incredibly soft&moisturized
It leaves your hair very manageable
It leaves your hair very detangled, which results in less tangles causing you to retain more length and less breakage
It doesn’t allow the shampoo to strip your hair of its natural oils, leaving you with clean, soft, moisturized hair !
What do I need to Pre-Poo?
Conditioner of your choice
Natural Hair Oil (coconut oil or olive is preferred)
Plastic shower cap
Fingers, Comb, or Denman Brush (your choice)
Honey (optional)
Hair Clips
How do I Pre-poo?
Pre-pooing is very easy and effortless, All you have to do is part your dry hair in sections, no less than 4. Apply your conditioner first and then your oil right behind it and do this for all sections. Once you applied the pre-poo treatment through out the hair you can brush or finger comb your hair up into a clip, place the plastic cap over your hair and wait for about 30-45 mins and wash your hair as normal. If you choose to use the honey you just apply it first and follow the steps as directed above.
I pre poo my hair every week on wash day with just coconut oil. My hair is so soft and manageable whenever I do this.

My first attempted braid-out on March 28, 2016.You can tell my the look on my face that I wasn’t happy (lol). Who knew this failed attempt would eventually become my staple hair style for when my hair is out in a fro. That just shows you, practice makes perfect!!!
This picture was taken before my senior prom in June 2015. This was the hairstyle that made me want to go natural in the first place. When I was getting these braids done the hair stylist kept commenting on how short and damaged my hair was. After she told my mom about this, my mom decided that I was going to try to go natural. At this point I was already 9-10 weeks post relaxer.
Just a photo I took while I was playing around with the camera on my computer in my college dorm during my freshman year in 2015. The braids that my hair was in were a couple of weeks old and this was when I transitioning from relaxed hair to natural hair.
