Nick didnโt really want to be at this party, but he humored himself and went, anyway. His entire trip had been spoiled on the first night he got here, and he didnโt really want to do anything after that. However, since he wasnโt really in the mood to mingle with anyone, he decided to keep himself closed off from everyone else. Much like he was used to doing, regardless of where he was at or what he was doing. Nick was making his way to a secluded area of the beach near the shoreline with a drink in hand, hopeful that maybe the salty ocean air would help to ease his nerves. There was always something so peaceful about the waves softly crashing against the shore, combined with the scent of the ocean air and the gentle breeze that floated by. Before he could take a seat on the sand, though, he ended up nearly running into someone. He didnโt realize just who it was, until their eyes met. Nick swallowed, his lips parted to say something, but nothing came out. He didnโt expect to see Demi here, of all places. Especially afterโฆ Four and a half years? Things between them didnโt exactly end on a good note all those years ago, so he wasnโt really sure what to do or say. However, he was at least glad for the fact that Demi at least said something first. Even if it was only a greeting.ย โDemi,โ he said quietly, then quickly glancing down at the glass of bourbon in his hand and back at Demi again.ย โFuck, Iโm sorry.โ Nick quickly tossed the contents of the glass into the water. Even after all these years, he was still respectful of their sobriety. And that would never change, regardless if they were friends or not.
it was no brainer that things are now completely different between them. not speaking in years. if anything, throughout the time period, all demi saw was joe at a halloween party and that was it. there were mixed emotions flooding their entire body. worry, confusion, heartbreak, maybe a little bit of anger. but demi was now in such a good place, why would they let it consume them? they were so trapped in their thoughts that they almost didnโt hear him when he responded back. until he started pouring out his drink and muttering apologies. almost reaching out to stop him,ย โnick, you donโt have to-โ though it was too late. his drink now washed along the ocean and his glass empty. even after all these years, he was still so careful around them. he did watch them spiral after all. leaving and missing the worse that demi endured. maybe it was for the best that he didnโt stick around to see demi completely fall apart. sure, the world has seen it through tabloids and their docu series, but no one actually knew how it felt being there.ย โyou didnโt have to do that.. iโm okay.โ the singer finally spoke, breaking the silence between them once again.
