i’m currently unemployed. see, i’m working on this book and i’ve been working on it for quite some time. it’s supposed to be this really great book. the next great americ- oh sorry, officer. yes, next question.

tell us, in your own words, what you were doing in the hours prior to the accident, what you saw of the accident and what happened afterwards.

oh, officer. hours prior, i was at home typing away on my laptop. listening to a bit of the smiths and thinking about how to make my climax perfect. as for the accident, uh.. i, um. i just remember a lot of yelling and sirens. 

what is your connection with those involved in the accident?

unfortunately, i dated holden in high school. we were close friends even after we broke up. as for taylor, i really didn’t know much about her. 

at what time did you see the accident happen?

oh god, it was late.. 

what attracted your attention to the accident?

the yelling when they didn’t come back up from the water. i just kept hearing people yell for them. 

what was the weather at the time of the accident? was it clear outside? was it rainy or smoky? what were the winds conditions (velocity, gusty)?

i honestly was so drunk, i don’t remember much of it. it was cold, like you knew death was in the air. 

what actions did you take at the accident site?

i just stood there, like an absolute idiot. i was terrified of what was happening around me, officer.

were there any other witnesses around? do the police have other witnesses’ names? 

yeah, tons of people were there. it was a party. half of us were so drunk, we didn’t even know what was happening. i think it supposed to be fun, but nothing about that night was fun.

what do you think was the main cause of the accident?

stupidity.

there were a lot of people there that night.

no, not really. i think you’ve managed to summon us all into your lair already.

“okay, so maybe that aspiration was a bit worrisome and gross. but still, it really has gotten me feeling some kind of fucked up way, right now.”

“i totally agree. there’s always a party to look for a hook-up, so what’s the point of tinder? to use up your time by judging a person and possibly talking to someone who could be using fake photos? no thanks. —have you ever thought about getting one?” she turned her head over to daisy, raising an eyebrow. "you can have mine, if you’d like.”

“i don’t know, man. i’m kind of enjoying this whole year of nothing. i mean, i’m trying to write this book, right ? but like, every time i sit down to write it —  i just, i just go blank. it fucking sucks and you probably don’t care. wow, word vomit one, daisy zero.” daisy smiled, shrugging toward rory.

“you must be really, really high.”

“...you gotta take the edge of somehow, right?”

 “oh yeah,  I think about probably a little too much if if I’m completely honest. But angry poop? That’s awfully descriptive.”

“it’s definitely true. & after my dad found out about my first boyfriend sleeping over, i’m pretty sure that’s exactly what he did.” 

“mm… a rotten one at that. it’s nothing personal i just, i rather spend my time talking about shit that matters, not theories about life.” 

“so you’d rather talk about the kardashians or cocaine ? classy, classy. don’t take it personal, most people are like you.”

Charlie shakes her head and laughs at her friend. “You’re right I definitely should have. What a fool I am. I love you too – now come on, just two more!”

daisy sighs, kneeling down to take the photo from a different angle. “promise me when you’re famous, you won’t forget me ?” 

“i’d say getting lost in the depths of youtube is probably not the best idea.” she laughed, her head shaking slightly before allowed her features to become a tiny bit more serious. “have you seen the truman show? maybe life is like that, maybe this is just a set and it’s really a tv show revolving around your life.”

“oh bumblebee, you know it happens to the best of us.” she laughed, causing her necklaces to jingle against her jacket. “that movie is actually amazing. i could watch it almost every day and still probably cry like an idiot.”

“um, no. i don’t spend time thinking about what could be, but thank you for that, now i know why i don’t like talking to people.” 

“well aren’t you just a fucking peach.”

      “ that’s kind of a scary thought, don’t ya’ think ?? if that’s the case and we are all sims, that’s gotta mean that free will is just an illusion        i don’t like that. like, right now, a higher being would be forcing me to talk to you about this shit… that’s spooky. ”

glancing over at the friend, rey couldn’t help but let an eyebrow raise slightly. “ that’s a deep question for such a time, not sure i really want to figure out what life is truly about, just being able to experience and live it is plenty enough for me. though your sims theory—it’s interesting.”

daisy glanced over at her friend, knowing deep down inside she probably sounded like a complete idiot. “there is this whole conspiracy theory thing on youtube. i really need to stop getting on youtube at 3 am, don’t i?”

“Excuse me,” Charlie growls with her hands on her hips as she looks at the other in front of her. “I asked you to come here to take pictures of me and not the trees.” The two were down at the lake and Charlie had planned to update her blog that day so she asked for some help. “I promise once we get this down I’ll buy you food. Pleaseeee, I just need two more pictures.”

“you know, you should have bought me food to begin with  —–  then maybe, just maybe i would have been less distracted by the trees and my stomach rumbling. but hey, charlie listen i love you. don’t forget that.”
