Eiling didn’t like this guy so much that he framed him for drug trafficking in Cambodia during the American war, ruined his honor so much he decided to undergo an experimental procedure involving an alien and an atom bomb that sent Nate into the future. And then when Nate was gone Eiling married Nate’s wife and stole his two kids so they were loyal to him and Eiling made sure they forgot about their disgraced criminal father…

And then Angela died before Nate could come back and when Nate comes back is when the real hating starts.

to understand Captain atom you have to know that Eiling is the most dedicated hater out there. He doesn’t even have a reason to hate he just DOES. (I guess it’s for power.)

When Captain atom finally comes back 18 years later Eiling is right there to be hating again.

And then Eiling attempts to shoot him into space. Action number 1: rile him up and gas him. Action number 2: shoot him into space.

and then when he couldn’t be disposed of, Eiling pulled out all the stops to control him. Obviously Eiling already had access to Nate’s kids who were still loyal to him despite Eiling being a bad father.

All he does is LIE and MANIPULATE

And it’s not like this is subtext he’s very much a thorough hater.

If I skip around a bit more to Eiling’s greatest hits:

When Nate quit and went rogue Eiling sabotaged every single official job he tried to get (personally)

Eiling disregarded direct orders from the President to leave Nate alone and tried everything to get him under his power again

Eiling was behind a significant supervillain that wasn’t even government related this was personal

Eiling constantly uses Peggy and Randy (especially Randy) as pawns to get Nate to do what he wants.
