first keaton shorts- much more serious tone when compared to Arbuckle’s films which feel light hearted. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to fit in much films today- I was hoping to watch a few features but I was unable to. Saturday usually ends up being my busiest day of the week. Today was a bit of a low day (and little frustrating and disappointing) for me, maybe if I had more time for Keaton films, it would have been a better day.

Some of you may know I have a cartoon dog character named Buster. Here are some drawings I made of them where I took inspiration from Buster Keaton moments.

A few days ago I got the idea for a Buster Keaton challenge! The rules are simple: watch one film with Buster Keaton each day. My idea was to run this during July so that it would last just one month. It can be any film as long as Keaton is in it, I assume that the minimum should be ten minutes long, but you have to watch till the end- no skipping. This idea was inspired by my “Perfect day with Buster Keaton” post. I had been wondering if there would be a noticeable change if I was able to watch Buster Keaton every day. I am probably gonna try to watch one short each day either in the morning or before sleeping. Feel free to join in the challenge. Make a log of what films you watch (film title and day/date). It’s ok if you don’t make it the whole month, but would still be nice to share progress at the end. I think it’s ok to rewatch the films, but for each new day to count, you need to see a new one/different one from the ones you already saw (rewatches would count as bonus points. Also if you see more during a day, you get double points— for example- one day you see one- one point. One day you see one new one, one rewatch- two points. Day three you see two - four points, or if three-six points, etc. So rewatch counts just one point extra, but more pictures found double— if this doesn’t make sense… I’ll try and explain it later). I would allow it to be two different films if they are slightly different release such as the two versions of “the blacksmith” or “free and easy” versus “estellados” etc.

Step one: wake up.

Step two: watch Buster Keaton films.

Step three: go back to sleep.

Hello! I was wondering if any Buster Keaton fans know how he did this hat flip trick?

I have tried to replicate it, but it seems I may need some help, I believe I need two people to move the hat. My original plan was to attach a string to two sides of the brim and pull on the hat, but I was not able to have someone help me when I wanted to test it out.
