one of my favourite aspects of sam reid’s performance as lestat is how doglike it is. the other vampires in the show are distinctly feline in their design and behaviour but sam’s whole face is made for brutally large fangs, and he always seems to snarl and snap and growl more than properly hiss. except he’s not especially wolfish either, which makes sense because lestat is the wolfkiller after all. sam’s lestat is very specifically a DOG. he’s well-bred and dangerous, a livestock guardian that’s long since outlived his flock but that’s still too aggressive and restless to ever adjust to domestic life. despite lestat’s best attempts at being a companion animal, he’s always going to be a territorial bite risk, because he’s was never meant to be an indoor pet. it’s really good
