Hello, hello! My name is Betty! I live in Sherwood in Ohio and I'm a junior in high school. I don't really have many aspirations for my future, and part of my goal for next year is to find one, so wish me luck! I wish you luck too.
I created this web log mostly for the sake of future memories. I like to look back on things, but I'm not confident in my ability to keep track of a diary...so there's this! I don't expect anyone to find it, but if you do, please know you're entirely welcome here.

Frost coated the tips of the blades of grass growing in the field, dimming their color and crunching under Betty's shoes. The weak sunlight did little to ward away the cold, and Betty was thankful for the thick coat she was wearing as she lined her croquet mallet up with the orange ball.
"How've you been doing with the weather?" She stalled awkwardly as she took a few steps back from the ball, trying to make sure her aim was perfect. That was never too much of an issue when Betty played, and she wanted to keep it that way. Even if she often misjudged the power, at least she could visualize angles.
She just had to hit the ball. She nearly closed her eyes as she tapped it. That can't have been enough power. She didn't want to look, but...
"So close!"
Betty let out an awkward laugh as her ball rolled into the first hoop, stopping just before it went all the way through. Unfortunate though it was, she really wasn't all that good at croquet, so getting 'so close' on just her second shot of the game was something worth celebrating for her, even if it would be pretty lame to be open about that feeling. Betty had to act casual.
I've tried my whole life to like winter but I really just don't! I appreciate all the seasons but I don't have much of a tolerance to cold or dryness. I get nosebleeds all the time this time of year. Winter is the price people must pay for summer though I guess!
I want to travel a lot when I get older. Especially northerly. I know there are a lot of stories written about how dangerous the weather is, but I like to think I'm too skeptical to just believe what's in stories. And I like ice skating! What's really so scary about exploring a bunch of ice floes? Maybe I'm just saying things though...regardless I definitely want to! But not just northerly, I want to travel everywhere.
I think if her name were Heather we'd be looking at a far worse Westerburg. She's pretty, ambitious, cruel...I guess, generally, I don't have a very good opinion of her, but like everyone I'm sure she's capable of change, and I'll be cheering her on!

I don't have anything against it. I think people should be able to be with whoever they want! I totally get it anyway. I don't really know what the appeal of boys is. I've met some nice ones, but I wouldn't ever want to date one, if that makes sense? I don't really think about dating anyone though, even though I know that makes me a bit of a dweeb, as someone might say. The only time I kissed a guy it made me feel horrible, and I definitely don't want to do it again. Maybe the right boy will come along someday, but I don't really believe in true love...
Oh, Sally! It's good to see you too. How's school been for you so far? I know Westerburg's not the best place, but I think the academics are still okay, so that's something. If you need anything feel free to ask me! I've gotten pretty good at drifting the waves of the high school ecosystem, if that makes any sense...
Excuse me, sorry to bother you, but I just wanted to ask...is this the sort of prom that you're supposed to have a date for and stay for the whole thing? Or is it something casual? I'm excited no matter what, but I'm more used to small dances and I don't have a date, so I want to be a little prepared is all. Sorry for rambling a little...

That all sounds very impressive! I'm looking forward to it, though I'll have to bring lots of water if I'm going to be there for a while. I don't know if I really want a date, but if I have to have one in order to go, I guess there's nothing to it. Please put me on the registry if it's not too much trouble. I'm not looking for anything other than a friend to partner up with in order to get admission, I'm not really up for romance.
I do! Not as much as I used to or anything, what with school and all that, but I still take good care of my collection and collect new ones (my favorite one from this year was the Teen Time Courtney!). Are you asking because you want to play with me? As long as my parents like you, you can come over to play with Barbies any time!
I've decided that I really like people! I decide this pretty often, and some days I also decide the opposite, that people can be really mean and I don't like it. But those things definitely can coexist, I'm sure of it! I like people, I think they can be amazing and even their cruelty can be a little amazing too, can't it? I mean, people can do all that? That's quite something...I don't know what I mean to say by this, honestly. I'm glad to be a person and I'm glad to know other people. I just wish I had more time to spend with others, but school's hard...
