Etho and tango are very similar in terms of their interests and how their brains work on a logic level. they're both redstoners, they're both very curious people who love picking apart things and approaching them logically and creatively. They bounce off of each other really well in this way! There's so many streams where they're discussing redstone, working out a bug together, talking about a mechanic, playing with a new toy/idea one of them has come up with, that kind of thing. They work really well together! A lot of the appeal to me is that tango and etho share very similar interests and can spend a lot of time with each other talking about it, working their brains, and probably actively enable each others less good habits through this.

Tango is also an excellent game designer (he is NOT WASHED UP no matter what he tells you dont listen to this man). Conversely, Ethos got minigame autism and loves having something to fixate on to the point he loses sleep and other probably necessary things. So naturally they develop this developer/player relationship where etho gets obssessed with tangos game and loves spending time with him talking about it, and tango loves watching someone completely master something he put months of his life into designing, understanding it almost as well as he does. Etho picks things apart and analyses them a lot, when hes trying to understand them or likes them a lot. This naturally works really well for minigames, when you've got an analysis brain that wont turn off youre gonna get really good at it. God the player/developer relationship is amazing to me and this is kind of self indulgent bc i love game dev as well but it IS so awesome to see something you poured your heart and soul into get appreciated so deeply. This is about decked out <3

There's just a bunch of other stuff where they complement each other too. Theyre both kind of assholes sometimes. They bounce off one another and banter and play fight-but-not-really easily. Ethos always got the ice motifs tangos got fire. Ethos really good at parkour now and tangos probably the least dexterous minecraft player ive seen (sorry tango. Partially joking). Both of them were going to do steam punk bases this season of hc but etho pivoted last minute. Ethos considered very level-headed but tango has a reputation for getting frustrated quickly (neither are entirely true in the way the fandom often characterises them because #nuance).

Also the most important part to me is any romance is entirely secondary to everything ive said before. These are two guys who are not very equipped for talking about their feelings and being vulnerable (they are Bros and they love each other very much in many ways but to talk about that in more than passing comments or sarcasm would be cringe of course), because etho is a coward and tango hates himself. Theyre probably gonna be forever stuck in a cycle of 'well he seems happy and i cant ruin this so its fine i dont need any more'. Etho is scared of vulnerability and tango wouldnt dare think that someone thinks that highly of him until they kissed him on the mouth.
