Week 4: Conjure Your Costume

sᴀʟᴜᴛᴇ ᴘʟᴜʀɪᴍᴀᴍ ᴅɪᴄɪᴛ. We have reached the final week of Halloween. As the veil approaches its thinnest, we turn our attention to our creatures’ festive attire. What will they wear to the Halloween feast? Some dictate a Halloween costume be silly or salacious. Others believe taking another’s identity is infinitely more serious than that. Remember, this costume needs to befit your beast. This could be humorous. We leave that in your hands. 

Either way, you know what to do: Download your template, draw, describe, sculpt, sew, or knit your beast attired. Then upload it with the tag #build a beast to add it to the menagerie.

Week 3: Fashion Your Familiar

So. We meet again. Your beast demands a familiar, a friend, a sidekick. It has fallen to you to create this, just as you assembled the original entity. Where does this familiar come from? How did they meet your character? How do they communicate? What do they bring to the team? Are they animal, vegetable, or mineral? Perhaps they are a mother-of-pearl vapor cloud. Or a vindictive stapler with a revenge agenda. Or a mischievous monstera called cheddar. 

Either way, you know what to do: Download your template, do your drawing or writing or crocheting or molding, and upload it with the tag #build a beast to add it to the menagerie.

Week 2: Lay Out Your Lair

Well met, you rubes. How did your creation go last week? Have you had your IT’S ALIVE moment yet? 

Now for where it lives and performs its dastardly deeds. Does your beast live in a damp cave? A crowded kitchen? In an orangery atop the tallest tower? The cupboard at the bottom of the dollhouse stairs? A mysterious thistle thicket in a very smelly swamp? A completely other dimension altogether? Are the walls sentient? Do the windows defend themselves when attacked? Is the place decorated with crocheted wall hangings, plants, tchotchkes, or crystals?

Draw or describe your creature’s quarters. Upload your completed template using the tag #build a beast to share your creation with the world (a reminder to use your reblog controls if you’d like your beast to remain hidden in the wilds).

Week 1: Build Your Beast

Salutations, stooges. It is time to build your beast. Will it be feathered? Furry? Flame-scaled? Will you be re-purposing an OC you already have or creating a completely new character? Will your beast be big and brash or soft-spoken and nimble-footed? Here’s your template. Download it, draw or describe (or crochet or paint or mold or embroider or immortalize in shanty form) your character. In short, unleash your wildest whims upon it. We look forward to meeting your horrid creation.
