Chris let out an exasperated sigh and whirled to face David. “Oh for god’s sake! could be any creepier?” 

When Chris faced him out of nowhere, David he held a steadfast into his eyes. Oh, he just couldn’t help but finds these kinds of situations intriguing. “I was asking you a simple question. No reason to get all roused up, is it now, Christopher?”

“Shame. Just bad with names, I guess.” He refused to be baited with such a cheap trick, and fixed his gaze somewhere in the middle distance. “I’m surprised it doesn’t interfere with your work.”

“Shame indeed,” he repeated, pulled at the corner of his lips. “How come?” With a curious gaze, he took in the Chris’ features. “Tell me, have you been naughty or nice this year?”

“David.” He made no attempt to stop his face from twisting into an annoyed expression. They’d run into each other a couple of times before, briefly disagreed on everything, and then left. Apparently the universe decided that it needed to happen again.

David couldn’t stop himself from letting a devious smile show side-to-side with Chris’ annoyment. "As much as I feel slightly honoured that you remember my name, I seem to have forgotten yours,” he greeted, although they both knew that was untrue.

Noah nodded, “Yeah. My parent’s were … pretty big on trying to get us involved in a little bit of everything. They put me in a few different sports but, well, soccer was what I was good at, what I kept up.” he explained carefully. Of course he’d had other talents, he had always been very good at piano though he really didn’t like performing, and he missed the horses in Bell Canyon more then he ever let on. There weren’t many chances for horseback riding in Manhattan. Soccer just happened to be the main thing he could keep up - until now. At the other man’s words he sighed, giving a small smile. “Yeah, I guess you’re right. That does seem to be how everything works.”

David didn’t even want to think of his own parents, but he could always try to survive when someone else did. “Sounds like one... big happy family. If I may ask, do you ever get run over by other football players?” No, he was never dishonest, and this kid didn’t exactly look full of muscles and whatnot. Oh, well, it wasn’t his problem anyway. “I am, you’ll see.”

“Y’know I’m not super religious or militantly atheist,” Chris remarked, staring at the store window with it’s overly festive mannequins. “But can we hold off on the christmas stuff until after november? There’s only so much holiday cheer I can take before I start going crazy.”

“Huh,” David smoothly let out, with eyes darting the Christmas decoration. “I would give that up if I were you. It won’t ever change... unless you want to whinge about meaningless issues.”

Noah shook his head, “No, I mean it was just a hobby. An important one, I guess. I’ve spent a lot of time on soccer. But my plan is to be a teacher, actually.” he explained. He knew that it wasn’t as devastating a blow as it could have been to someone hoping to go pro, but it was still hard to know he’d miss most of his last season. “I just … thought I had a little longer before I had to give it up.”

“Is that right,” he said, speculating how a body like that could survive on the football field. “I’d say being a teacher surpasses physical talent.” That was his opinion, anyway - not at all indulged in sports in any way except working out. “It’s all shambles, nothing ever works out the way you plan - rather just keep going than fall further into a quagmire”

Noah shook his head, “Not exactly. I just … I play soccer for NYU, and I fell wrong during the game today. I broke my wrist so … no more soccer this season. And I’m a senior, so it was my last season.” he explained softly. He wasn’t entirely sure what to do with the concept that competitive soccer was suddenly over for him even earlier then intended. He’d been pushed into sports as long as he could remember, but he had actually liked soccer. 

The fact no one hurt the stranger’s arm was kind of a bummer, seeing he’d most likely do him a favour and hurt that person back; for fun, naturally. “That must’ve been annoying,” he responded, compelling himself to show the guy some sympathy. “Was that your goldmine, by any chance? I mean, what comes now?”

Noah had decided that nurses who were acting suspicious were his new least favorite thing. Fortunately, there wasn’t much they could say beyond that he seemed to be a little underweight. There had been a whole crowd full of witnesses to attest that he had broken his wrist in the middle of the NYU vs Brooklyn College soccer game. However, that in itself was a huge problem for Noah, as he sat in the closest place he could find to the hospital that served coffee, arm in a sling as he sipped at the cup of black coffee with his free hand. It wasn’t even the same arm as last time, but apparently he’d messed the wrist up so badly that he was in the splint and sling only until swelling went down enough to put him in a cast that would go past his elbow and halfway up his upper arm. He could kiss the rest of the soccer season goodbye. His last soccer season. He spotted someone nearby and sighed, “At least we won the game anyway?” he managed to say, “I guess they don’t exactly need me, the team should be fine.”

David was on a hunt; stalking, to be more precise. However, he would have to wait for about thirty minutes, which was why he kept a temporary fort in a diner sipping on some caffeine. He was used to waiting, lacking no patience at all - neither wasting his time as he currently streamed on his laptop. It wasn’t until he heard a voice he raised his chin, quickly figuring out where it came from. And no, he didn’t understand much about what he was talking about, although that never kept him from ignoring the other. “Did someone hurt your arm?”

a cant of her head and a smile spread across her lips brought out her natural charm. “ that’ll cost you extra, “ she added with a wink, busy hands bustling to pluck three glasses from a nearby shelf, filling them each with a few ice cubes. her attention was diverted back with the same playful smile, “ you seem like a top shelf kinda guy – “

“and is there anything going on in your life that deserves a drink? i’d hate to have all the attention on me,”

“Oh,” he smirked, “A lot, actually, though I don’t mind you owning the attention at all, I’m here for it.” Raising his glass, he admired the stranger. 

“Eh. I’ve been called worse,” Taylor remarked with a nonchalant shrug of her shoulders. “We can’t all be as eccentric as you, David.” A small smirk pulled at the corners of her lips. “Guess you’ll never know.”

“You’re strange,” was all he muttered. “I don’t expect that either, but I don’t mind people being more.. openminded about it.” Glancing Tay for a second, he kept driving, loving the sound the car made as he did so. “Guess I won’t...” he mumbled and rolled his eyes in boredom.
