I was thinking about my Black OCs recently and realized that four of the six - the only ones who aren't fairly minor characters all in all, at least until I find something new to do with Karmen - have a strong disconnection from Blackness. I wonder if that at all reflects my hesitancy to go out of my lane, although by making that thematic parts of their backstory and who they are, it necessitates engaging with it more than I would otherwise.
