Damon with Komaeda's luck (I saw in a fic I'm reading, it being referred to as 'Devil's Luck' what with the good and bad cycles of it and whatnot.) would probably ALREADY have some chronic issues because life screws him over on account of luck. (Jett very much feels all the luck-based tomfoolery the world pulls on Damon. phantom papercuts at BEST and at worst? major shit happening.) he tries to scamper off but he very much DOESN'T succeed at that (they don't care if you're 'CURSED', Damon!) and also: Damon, after getting poisoned, shot, and whatever else happens due to his luck: does anyone have an ibuprofen? my head hurts- The others, seeing this man try and walk off all of that:

yeah, Damon would absolutely attempt to blame himself, especially for the stuff that happens after they came in contact with him. and he feels extra bad because he associates the intensity of good/bad luck with how much he likes someone, so when he notices a big amount of good luck happening to the others, he realizes he needs to gtfo before the bad luck hits. And then he tries again once the AU shenanigans start happening (oh it's just like with Golfer!Damon, except it's specifically his luck that gets him caught in this case)

ah.........yeah his parents dying because of his luck is his biggest fear (with the polycule getting tied with that once he gets close to them) and that fear is the cause of 99% of his runaway attempts, especially if something like that happened because of the luck cycle
