Hello, friends! It’s been a while since the MakoHaru week ended, but I didn’t have the time to put all the fics together in a collection-post before, so here it is now. Here you can find all the fics that I wrote for the occasion along with a little description. Day 1: Hidden in Plain Sight Prompt: Body Worship. Rating: E. Word count: 9,6k Setting: Historical AU. “For the past five years, Makoto has been working as a servant at the earl’s estate, the last four of which as the valet of the earl’s son, Lord Haruka. But no one knows the true nature of his job and, if their secret were to be discovered, it would have catastrophic consequences for both Haruka and himself. When Haruka makes him a life-changing proposition, Makoto has to decide if he dares to risk it all for a shot at happiness.” (AO3)

Day 2: A Piece of Me (is Always With You) Prompt: Love Letters. Rating: T. Word count: 6,4k. Setting: Post-Canon. “While at a training camp in Stockholm, Haruka finds himself feeling lonely without Makoto, who is studying for exams back in Tokyo. When he’s reminded of an unanswered letter Makoto sent him when they were children, Haruka thinks this might be the perfect opportunity to finally respond to it.” (AO3)

Day 3: Hydrangeas, Orange Blossoms, and Everything in Between Prompt: Flowers + Soulmates. Rating: G. Word count: 5,1k Setting: Soulmate AU. “On his late grandmother’s birthday, Haruka goes to a flower shop to buy a bouquet with his grandmother’s favourite flowers. There, Haruka finally meets the person responsible for the ever-changing soulmate mark adorning the inside of his wrist.” (AO3)

Day 4: A Spoonful of Love Prompt: Cooking. Rating: T. Word count: 5,6k. Setting: Post-Canon. “After two weeks apart, Haruka is finally coming home from a training camp and Makoto wants to surprise him with a special dinner. With the moral support and guidance of his mother, Makoto whips up a dish he’s never made before.” (AO3)

Being a tattoo artist had never been Haruka’s dream. Not exactly.

Creating art had been his biggest passion—besides swimming—since he was three years old and his late grandmother gave him a box of coloured pencils for his birthday. It wasn’t until a couple years later that others started to notice and praise him for his abilities. But Haruka never cared about being talented. For him, drawing and painting was an escape, something to lose himself in, enabling him to translate his thoughts and feelings onto a canvas without needing any words. The cherry trees around the apartment building were in full bloom and birds chirped a merry song amid the branches. Petals drifted on the mellow breeze as Haruka and Makoto took the last boxes out of the car Kisumi’s uncle had been kind enough to lend them. After a busy morning of unloading it, the trunk and backseat were empty at last.

Today was the day. The final day of Makoto’s leasing contract and he was officially moving back in with Haruka.

Seventeen weeks had passed since he first scaled these stairs, since he picked up Makoto’s stuff and brought them to the hospital for him, since he convinced Makoto to move in with him. Now, Haruka was going to get him back.

Chapter 30: This is Not Okay

Seven forty-three on Friday night, Haruka put down the varnish and admired his handiwork. After hours of neck pain, cramped fingers and a sore back spread out over several days, the sculpture was finished.

The relief and satisfaction that washed over him by far exceeded the contentment he felt about the portrait he made for Mr. Tachibana. While he’d poured his all into that drawing too, this sculpture was something special. It symbolised his undying love for Makoto and to convey those feelings, he might as well have ripped out his heart, sliced off a sliver and merged it into the wood along the inside of the orca’s belly. He’d been creating art for well over a decade, but never before had a single piece held so much of his essence, pure and earnest.

Chapter 29: A Phone Call Away

After Makoto left, Haruka headed to the bathroom and filled up the tub. Back at the pool, the water might not have been a magical remedy to his pain, but it made everything at least a bit better. Haruka was sure it would now, too.

And it did. As he sank into the warm water, the uneasiness melted off his bones and serenity settled into the empty cavity in his chest. Maybe some time apart would do them well. It made him realise he’d taken Makoto’s presence for granted, so he could appreciate the time they spent together more. He would start to look forward to seeing Makoto again, would count down the minutes as excitement budded and blossomed in his core, just like when they were still strangers.

Chapter 28: One Goodbye Too Many

By the time Makoto came back from the vending machine, Haruka was able to regain most of his composure.

He didn’t want the last days of such an amazing trip to be ruined, therefore he’d convinced himself it wouldn’t be that bad. Makoto would be a single train stop away and they could meet up whenever they wanted. Before the accident, Haruka lived on his own for over a year so he shouldn’t have a hard time adjusting to Makoto being gone. After such a busy summer, he might’ve been relieved to have the house to himself, to be truly alone for the first time in months. He always treasured his alone time, so this would be a nice breather - but deep down, he knew he was lying to himself.

Chapter 27: A Cold Shower

The sweet summer days spent in Iwatobi flew by far too quickly, but Haruka made sure to hold onto them and savour every moment as much as he could.

They went to the festival with Makoto’s family, where they played some more games and Haruka treated the twins to candied apples as promised. Every morning, Haruka took a refreshing dive in the ocean and on several occasions, they went back in the afternoon with and without the twins to swim until their lungs ached. One time, Makoto even took him to a nearby river to fish, but rather than pulling the fish out of the water, they decided to join them instead.
