Dateless and Single in Detroit

Hey all!!!!

I want to try and make this Tumblr more interactive with stories, quotes photos etc etc......I’m going to start brainstorming more things to write about but if you yes YOU!!! have a story or anything else that you’d like to share shoot it to me. I

So, I have a question for anyone who reads this. 

I went to lunch with a co worker today. It always seems as though people want to focus on my relationship status. 

A quick overview of what happened….

Coworker:  Is he (referring to Nick Carter from BSB) the type of guy you’d go for??

Me: I don’t know…..I’ve never had a boyfriend..

Coworker: Really?! Like ever? 

So yeah, I’ll be 27 as of next Thursday and I’ve been single since the day I came into the world. It’s definitely not by choice. 

But, I’ve never really had any guy approach me or show interest. Not sure if it was my acne filled skin but I don’t really know what it feels like to be liked by someone.  I'm not into hooking up with people just because. I can't give that part of myself to someone without being in a serious relationship.

That maybe old fashion or a prude but whatever.

Bu getting to the title of this post, she asked me if I would date outside my race…..I have NO problem going out side (Black; African American) my race. Which I said I would. But then she said you wouldn’t date in your race. I said that I would date both. 

But. what kinda caught me off guard was when she asked me “don’t you think you’ll find someone to make you happy in your own race?” 

This girl is asian BTW….

But, I said why can’t someone outside my race make me happy?  

So….why is it still so taboo in 2014 to date someone outside your race? I honestly can’t say that there are any men (that I actually know or ones in the media) in my race that I’ve been attracted to. I think that interracial relationships are beautiful.
