My favorite thing about the Project Hail Mary fandom is that everyone heard the line “you have no immediate family you don’t even have a dog” and went “give that man found family!!!!”

Whether it’s a crossover with a bloody YouTuber, giving him a twin or multiple, or making Eridian ocs that love him. It’s so amazing. You are not alone. You don’t need to have the traditional white picket fence to be loved and have meaningful connections.

I keep seeing all these posts about grace being buried on Erid after he dies or getting a statue or what have you.

What if he gets turned into a diamond? What if Grace tells Adrian that humans figured out they can be cremated and have their ashes turned into diamonds? What if Grace asks Adrian to turn him into a diamond for Rocky? Rocky gets the stone set into their carapace so Grace is always with them.

I have seen glimpses of phm Ryland Grace being turned/reborn/made into an eridian to extend his life or some-such-similar-reason.

And I propose.

Since Eridian brains seem better with memory and such.

(I wonder if, because their brains are basically a big crystal, the reason their memory is so good is because it literally gets carved into the crystal so they can revisit it whenever with no problem.)

Imagine they manage to basically transfer Grace's consciousness into crystal brain into Eridian body.

and suddenly Grace is one of the smartest bitches on Erid (not that he wasn't already smart, or that the Eridians didn't already view him as smart, but now they have an easier way to comprehend how smart he is) because he no longer has the feeble flaws of a human brain with it's weird memory and stuff.

Rocky when Grace is human: This is my very smart, squishy alien friend.

Rocky when Grace becomes an Eridian and can finally properly chatter about Science: holy shit, Grace is a very smart fucking Nerd.

The first thing Ryland should do when he gets into his biosphere is run. He hasn't had to space to actually, properly, run in so long. Plus then you get Rocky being confused why Ryland is jetting off the second he steps foot in there. Rocky give tour! Why Grace leave! Where you going?

Grace making huge advencements in the Eridian medical field.

Turns out there's a childhood disease to the tune of measles that erodes the carapace, and the first symptom shows up about a week before any actual damage is caused.

Grace comments to Rocky that one of his students seems to be turning oxidisation-green. About a week later that student has to be hospitalised for this illness.

Eridian scientists realise pretty quick that Grace can detect the illness long before any of their equipment can, and when caught that early it is much, much easier and safer to treat.

Not only is Grace celebrated in the scientific field for his knowledge and for his part in saving the world, he becomes a beacon of hope for doctors and parents and children on Erid.
