Copycats | Milian and Darqa
Darqaâs laughter was contagious, leaving Milian chuckling as he rolled an image of his cafĂŠ in his head. âItâs not a bad idea. We would get more coffee, and maybe people would be more fun with more breakfast in them.â He then shook his head. âHonestly I donât know if they sell any cakes. Those arenât the sweets Iâm usually focused on.â
Not once, out of all the times he leaned against the glass display cases or found himself being playfully swatted away from them, did he actually look down to see what was in them. Â His eyes occasionally went to the plates the other guests carried around but they had sandwiches and other things in the savory family.
âBut weâre about to find out.â Hanging out with Darqa; Milian couldnât think of a better way to spend the morning. Well, maybe if there were drinks involved, but it wasnât the kind of morning to kick off some day drinking. âYou got to let me treat though.â
âI find your lack of interest in cakes and stuff super disturbing, Milian, but I will forgive you in this particular instance because cakes are something that should not be argued over. Only enjoyed.â She winked at her friend, fully enjoyingthe easy, happy mood that had settled over them. Sheâd missed this so much in between all the recent fighting.
At the mention of getting treated, Darqa gave up on trying to be a respectable early-morning Mancer and enveloped Milian inan excited hug. âDude, I love you!â To underline her point she fistbumped his shoulder, then crowed happily, âIf you were waiting for me to say that I totally appreciate your chivalry but couldnât possibly let you pay for all the awesome food Iâm going to eat -- well, youâre out of luck! Hah.âÂ
Sheâd treat him the next time around, of course, but for now she was incredibly satisfied to get to eat something -- that would hopefully taste good, and not be, like, mushy bread or something -- and not have to pay for it. This morning was rapidly turning into the best on sheâd had in weeks!
âSo what are you waiting for, huh? Lead the way, oh treater, to this wondrous cafe of yours!â
