It'll double as a Yu-Gi-Oh crossover with the 6 protags (Yugi, Jaden, Yusei, Yuma, Yuya and Yusaku all meeting and teaming up with each other, and NiGHTS ofc, in order to restore a darkened and desolate Nightopia. As it's being healed, they gradually learn what had happened to the Visitor who created it and how NiGHTS (may or may have not) was involved. NiGHTS being revealed as a Nightmaren would definitely be a big reveal.

Oh, and since Wizemen is gone prior to JoD's events, there's a new Nightmaren leader, with Reala as her right-hand minion, also still being alive following NiGHTS' survival during JoD's ending. Her name is Ikate. And she seems to harbor some disdain towards NiGHTS for unknown reasons...

I'm already thinking a few of their bosses correspond with their dark alter egos or corrupted versions of individuals they're close to and become allies once freed from Ikate's influence.

Yugi >> Yami Yugi/Atem as he was in Season 0

Jaden >> Yubel donning Jaden's Supreme King persona

Yusei >> new Nightmaren boss, slight exception

Yuma >> Astral

Yuya >> Z-ARC, converts into Yuto, Yugo and Yuri upon defeat

Yusaku >> Ai in his SOLtis form

Keep these alter ego/partner characters as bosses and not allies during the story as now I feel it renders NiGHTS a secondary character when they really shouldn't be. There needs to be a dynamic all of them have with NiGHTS thus making all their friendships flourish and put to the test more engaging.

And by "put to the test" I don't just mean when they learn NiGHTS being a Nightmaren. But also a certain secret NiGHTS kept from them regarding the villain and why Ikate is the way she is. Or even what happened to the new character briefly shown at the beginning of the plot...

He's always infantilized, taken care of by another character, cowering behind Sonic or Shadow at every threat, and so on, because "He's a kid!" "He has fears!" "He's not the strongest!" Alright, but can he do something cool and impactful on occasion? Can he have a means to justify why he's on equal footing with Sonic and the rest instead of being a mere sidekick to them?

Don't take this the wrong way anon, but is there any reason in particular for why you keep sending asks revolving around Sonic being in emotional pain? I've already expressed my thoughts on how to handle that as a setup, I don't know what else to add that wouldn't be redundant.
