i just find it so moving how piper's crisis in a witch's tail rhymes with prue's crisis in both from fear to eternity and witch trial. both paralyzed by terror because of the trauma their inherited magical destiny has inflicted on them, both further incapacitated by the deep shame their perceived failure to live up to their duty triggers, both trying to push themselves through it and step back into their role as the caretaker of the family, no acceptable margin for error, without honoring and processing their emotions—only to end up in a worse situation because of it. only being able to move forward after confronting their fears and being reminded that behind the fear is the love that will always be with them. and the only way to keep living is to remember that love and take a leap of faith and move through fear with it. to let it signify an infinite capacity for hope for the future and trust in yourself, as opposed to reducing it to an inevitable potential for perpetuating deep pain. when prue is rewarded for that faith by feeling the presence of both patty and grams. when piper is rewarded for that faith by feeling patty's presence and learning her baby can heal her. because this is charmed they do literally feel their presence but it's such a powerful metaphor for how the people you lose never really leave you and are there with you inside of you when you need them most. prue may not be in this episode but she is all over it.
