Darktail is the main character

Darktail hoping for his father to come back and actually trusting his fathers promise only to be told his father left and so did the clans hitting me right in the heart.

He's so complex, imo. Another villain besides Curlfeather and Berryheart, to be complex.

Trusting your father only for them to lie and leave you behind is the worst and as someone who had their father lie to them, I relate with Darktail.

And the only one keeping him grounded is his mother up until she died.

I've always thought he was a co.plex and well written characte from certain things he says and does and now they're canonising it! It's amazing and feels so real! I understand his thoughts and feelings and I like that it's a slow build up! He was willing to do literally anything to be with his father because he was told Onewhisker was really cool from the moment he was born, he was named to be a Clan cat, only to have his father reject him and leave him with one hope to keep him going, he turns away other cats and lifestyles because he is so desperate to be a warrior, other cats trying to tell him his father left only fueling his obsession to be a Clan cat and prove himself! He's being pushed but holding on because he loves his mother so much and doesn't want to lose her aswell....and then she dies and he snaps, it's heartbreaking!

A lot of the stuff he does later in life can call back to his grief for Smoke and his anger and hurt towards Onestar, he's getting revenge and and not letting Onestar get away with it but at what cost? He is rejected by SkyClan and ShadowClan and cats he trusted betray him and die, fueling his hatred for Onestar but also causing him to relive his trauma and get worse, it's an endless cycle of pain and anger and it's devastating! He watches Onestar become leader and lead a life without him, he watches Violetshine reunite with her father, cats he saw himself in getting what he didn't, he is baited with the fact he might have been able to be with cats he loves in the afterlife only to be put where the Clan cats put cats they don't want even though he has excepted he isn't a Clan cat. He tries one last time to fight for himself but is still rejected and killed by Clan cats ganging up on him.

He formed the kin to be like how he views the clans because he still is a kit who wants to be a warrior, but no matter how hard he tries it's not a clan and clans will never except him because he killed people. He killed cats who hurt him or reminded him of Onestar....
