Forgetting the fact that I’ve forgotten most of the Javascript I’ve ever learned, I spent, uh, too many hours creating a quick-and-dirty simple bookmarklet to halfway automate the manual creation of the link preview. (Quick-and-dirty because I’m certain there are edge cases I haven’t accounted for and which will break things.)

Add this bookmarklet to your browser.

Go to the AO3 page (fic/chapter/user/etc) you want a link preview for.

Run the bookmarklet, copy the resulting text from the popup window.

In the tumblr editor, switch to HTML mode.

Paste the copied text.

If there are no edge cases, you now have a link preview!

The inline link is what happens even if you click on the "link" feature, but thanks I hate it.

This is what the AO3 "share" feature produces, which is better but it will forever link to the first chapter and isn't what I want.

3. And THIS is what you get by following OP's phenomenal instructions!!!

It's a common corporate practice for credit card accounts to get cancelled due to lack of activity.

It's been very funny to see their notices progressively escalate from "pwease wemember to use ur Circle Card uWu" to "WE R GONNA CANCEL U ANY DAY NOW WE MEAN IT >:(".

By their timeline, that card should have been cancelled last year.

But no. Target just sent me a brand *new* card, and the emails have gone back to "pwease wemember to use ur Circle Card uWu".

But it shouldn't be surprising. I am 49, sure, but I have also been online since I was 14. Same as many other people my age and younger.

It's actually really convenient as a litmus test, to see which social media-isms and memes that person has aligned themselves with. For example, if a person is very steeped in 4chanisms, that's a red flag for me.

I wouldn't say it's surprising, quite, but more like a... ykw I am assuming you know about the fish-to-the-face reference. So it's more like a fish to the face. I see your blog and I'm usually expecting icon outfits, calm and collected and honestly admirable responses to online hate, and then this kind of credit card thing is a snap back to reality. Does that make sense?

I am, in fact, a classically trained oboist!

Classical music is an enormous genre, spanning centuries and cultures. Because of my training, I focus on the Western tradition. I enjoy the baroque and romantic periods the most, with some 20th century.

Usually when asked for recommendations (assuming you are new to classical), I lean towards music that feels like a movie soundtrack or otherwise has memorable themes non-musicians easily remember:
