Bad Blood (2013): Pompeii – Weight of Living, Pt. II
Wizarding World in Film: Welcome to Ilvermorny
“Light and Truth”
Welcome to Ilvermorny is an introductory film for prospective students who wish to study at any Ilvermorny school. The film features all ten campuses located in America and explores the values and ethics of being an Ilverian.
Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is an American wizarding school known to be one of the most prestigious institutions for academics and research. During the seventeenth century, the school established several branches nationwide to accommodate the growing student population. Excluding the Berkshire campus in Massachusetts, there are currently nine Ilvermorny schools located throughout the United States of America: Ilvermorny-Berkely, Aspen, Montgomery, DC, New Orleans, Branson, Hartford, Arlington and Warren. By the 1800s, the school developed the Ilvermorny System; an educational framework that encourages both independent and collaborative learning through the discussion of ideas with occasional or minimal professor intervention.
Students follow an integrative curriculum of historical and modern magic pertaining to aspects of several disciplines. Although most classes are conducted through the Ilvermorny System, subjects such as alchemy, herbology, potions, and elemental magic are completed on a lecture and rotation pre-requisite basis. Each lecture is paired with a designated rotation, similar to lectures and labs in muggle post-secondary institutions. Fourth year students and older have the freedom to choose their own core classes and electives but must complete mandatory courses such as Indigenous Magical History, African-American Magical Culture, Political and Economical Systems of Wizarding Society and Philosophical Theory of Wizards and Witches to fulfil all graduation requirements.
As of 2016, only Ilvermorny-Hartford, DC and Branson offer exchange programs with international students, most coming from Southeast Asia and South America. Ilvermorny-DC (colloquially known as ‘The District’), Berkley and Montgomery are currently developing academic programs for tertiary education. These specialized programs are for specific capacities such as the biomedical sciences for future healers and political science for students who wish to practice law.
The Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry maintains connections with Canadian wizarding schools such as the Trinity-Regent Institute in Vancouver and Hearst Academy of Magic in Ottawa.

moodboard: pride and prejudice
“I have been a selfish being all my life, in practice, though not in principle. As a child I was taught what was right, but I was not taught to correct my temper. I was given good principles, but left to follow them in pride and conceit. Such I was, from eight to eight and twenty; and such I might still have been but for you, dearest, loveliest Elizabeth! What do I not owe you! You taught me a lesson, hard indeed at first, but most advantageous. By you, I was properly humbled. I came to you without a doubt of my reception. You showed me how insufficient were all my pretensions to please a woman worthy of being pleased.”
