“No, no, no–” Wes retorted, “You’ve just wasted half a marshmallow doing that. What are you going to do with that burnt stuff now?” He took his own stick out of the fire and showed the other. “Consistently caramelised to perfection. And it’s gooey too.”

“I guess we just agree to disagree here,” he chuckled after Wesley showcased as to what he believed was the perfect way to cook the marshmallow. “I was always the kid that liked the burnt cheese more whenever making a grilled cheese. Guess I’ll always be like that,” Dante admitted with a light shrug.

“No, no, it definitely has all the pieces. You’d be surprised on how many tents I’ve set up before.”

“Well then maybe you should just set up the whole thing if you know what you’re doing,” he shrugged back.

Sloane was taken aback for a second when the guy said her sister’s name. “You’ve got the wrong twin, buddy.”

“There’s two of you?” he blinked. “Well that seems like it’ll be confusing,” Dante admitted. “What’s your name? And are you sure you’re okay?”

“Are we sure we have all the pieces? It feels like some things are missing,” he asked the other, looking through the things they had to set up the tent.

“Dude,” Wes said towards the person he was sat next to, to which he received no response. “Dude! Your marsmallow is burning. You might want to do something about that.”

“Are you kidding? This is the best way to make ‘em,” Dante insisted, taking a moment before pulling it out from the fire. “You peel back the charred bits for a gooey interior,” he mentioned, demonstrating as he spoke before popping it into his mouth.

“It’s nothing,” Sloane said to the other, hiding her black eye beneath her hair a little more. “It doesn’t even hurt that much.”

“Darcy– are you kidding? What do you mean it’s nothing?” Dante looked worriedly to whom he thought was one of his new friends. “How did this happen to you?”

“It would, I mean who knows how many could have used the help, I don’t want the glory for it. I only want to help.”

“Food?” She spoke simply, “Aren’t there bears who come out looking through trash cans at night in Canada? They’ve developed a taste for empty packets of Cheetos and Oreo’s rather than berries.” Or maybe she had just watched one too many YouTube videos of wildlife in unusual places. “Maybe? That or it’s going to attract them so I’m going to apologize now if you end up getting eaten.” She commented, keeping one arm extended, casting pink and orange light around them and the other hand was still gripping tightly onto the others arm. “Sorry I’m being a bit of a wuss about this, I just- don’t laugh…” She added quickly, “But sometimes I can be a little…weary of the dark. Not scared though. Just-… apprehensive.”

“Food? Well I sure hope not,” he replied when Darcy made a valid point. Dante watched curiously as the pink and orange light bathed their surroundings in a gentle glow. He froze briefly, alarmed by the sudden grip on his arm, relaxing once he realized it was Darcy. An amused twitch of his lips occurred after her confession, “It’s okay. There’s no reason to be though. The dark is... sort of my think,” it was Dante’s turn to admit. As if to prove a point he let the shadow of a butterfly flutter innocently a little way away from their feet before disappearing into the shadows once more.

“New in town? Well isn’t this a fun experience for you,” PJ said with slight sarcasm, “It’s this way,” He said, nodding the way he was gonna start walking, “Come with if you like or if you’re busy, I can manage.”

“It is quite fascinating, it’s perfect cover for anything, beautiful yet dangerous.”Ruby replied to him. “Thank you, I hope that I do too, it could help quite a lot of people if I can find what I am looking for.”

“What? What is it? Should I run- I mean we should we run?” She corrected herself looking to the other and not being able to stop herself from gripping the others arm at the noise. “Oh I’m definitely hearing that, I just wish I was hearing it in the daylight and not the nighttime.” She confessed, hiding almost all the way behind him and holding out one of her hands, letting it glow to cast some light around them. “Possibly. Or a wolf. Or a bear. But I’m hoping it’s just a dog.”

“I’ll be honest with you Darce I doubt it’s a wolf or a bear. I mean I’m sure there’s plenty in the forest but I don’t know why they’d venture into the town,” Dante mused. He was considering slinking them both into the shadows until Darcy cast some light on the two of them. “Think the light will scare them off? Might be a safe bet. And on the off chance it is a wolf or a bear, fire usually scares them so your light should do the same.”

Aspen paused as she thought about it, “Maybe, It can’t just stuffed crust though. I’d need some of the topping on top of the crust too. It’s not that hard to ask for, right?” 

“Let me just…” PJ finally got the creature loose form the wire and scooped him up in his hands, “We should probably take him to a vet or something.”

“You would be correct,many do that to watch their prey,some use it as defence.”She replied as she walked closer. “It’s a little bit about researching just so I can help others if they run into it.”

“I know that it may look pretty and everything but I can assure you that is not the best idea to go closer.”She replied. “It’s poisonous, I am trying to figure out if it is lethal or just hurts people and I would not like to find somebody dead or in pain because they touched it.”

“Probably tried to jump a fence or something. Or maybe it was on the bottom of the fence. Or someone throwing some barbed wire out, though that last one is unlikely. Either way it was probably an accident.”

“Oh, sorry. Did you mean garlic bread? Why would you want plain gross dough when garlic bread exists?”
