it actually does get to me how poorly motherhood is handled in both media and fandom. a woman becomes a mother and then suddenly everything about her is lost, she is just somebody's mother she can never be her own person and this isnt explored in a like. see how fucked up motherhood can be, it just happens bc writers are unaware of what they're doing. and then fandom somehow doubles down on it by again either erasing everything about a woman's personality and she's now just Mom or by treating her like satan if god forbid she isnt perfect (or if she just acts like a regular mother would) and it gets to me bc i do think motherhood is so interesting specially as a theme/concept to explore. theres so much to it, from exploring how certain characters deal with having to take care of someone who is reliant on them to, to the expectations the world has on motherhood and how that affects a character and also the relationship between mother and child, but i dont feel like its as explored as it could be. i have more thoughts on this but i'll stop here for now
