thinking about how i used to be such an avid fan of the sport. from watching every practice session to listening to podcasts and reading a million articles a day and being super active on twt to watching 5/16 races this year and occasionally bailing halfway through

still sitting here and thinking about the ‘he has no intention of returning to racing again in any capacity’ … I know I should move the fuck on and maybe I will one day … but even a year on, it’s still the most heartbreaking thing to me … like this is the kid who’s always loved this sport … he’s the kid from Perth who used to wake up at some godforsaken hour to watch races … he’s the kid who moved miles away to pursue that dream … he’s the kid who even at 30-something year old got choked up placing his winners trophy next to his childhood hero’s … like he loved this sport with all his being and all it took was one weekend … one night to end all of it. like this is his life’s work and yet he no longer wants anything to do with it in any capacity. maybe if only one thing, only one thing had been different in how things played out in the end, it all would have been different now …

f1 such a non-commitment to me now. used to be sat and prepped from thursday media day entrance to the end of sunday. now i'm like oh cool i'm free for the race guess i'll watch it.
