I'm making a new post in hopes that I can get at least something to put down for tomorrow so that my family and I might have a fighting chance to cover everything. For those who don't know me, I'm Link, and I'm a twenty four year old artist. my father and I have been homeless since Nov. 2021, was in a shelter for a bit and have been back in a motel again since Feb. 2025. We owe 500$ for tomorrow and it's officially been two weeks since we paid, and I'm not sure what more I could do for my family.

I've been posting on all platforms, but sadly we haven't been able to get any help at all, no matter what I do. It's been very exhausting, not just going through it but now dealing with the fact that we might not have anywhere to go tomorrow. We don't have friends or family to stay with, and no shelters are taking new folks nearby (I've been calling and checking).

We don't have much time since they usually call by 6am, and I'm desperately hoping and praying we'll have something by then so we don't have to leave. Please please please if you can, sharing or helping directly would mean the world to my father and I. My prices and support links are below for anyone interested. Thank you so much if you read this far, I know it's dismal, but I had to get something out there. Even if it is just a shot in the dark.

Sketch (price depending on type of sketch) - base price of 15$

Expression Sheet (minimum of 3 heads per sheet, 10$+ per extra head) - 60$ (10$+ if shaded)

Around 240 BCE, Eratosthenes used shadows to estimate Earth’s size. At Syene, the Sun was straight overhead, but in Alexandria, a stick made a shadow. Using that angle, the city distance, and geometry, he calculated Earth’s circumference surprisingly close to the modern value.

Here’s how he did it:

In Syene, at noon on a certain day, the Sun was almost straight overhead. A deep well had sunlight at the bottom, and a vertical stick made almost no shadow.

On the same day and time in Alexandria, a vertical stick did make a shadow.

He measured that shadow and found the Sun’s angle there was about 7.2 degrees.

A full circle is 360 degrees.

7.2 degrees is 1/50 of 360.

That meant the distance from Syene to Alexandria was about 1/50 of Earth’s full circle.

So he took the distance between the two cities and multiplied it by 50.
