"I find comfort in thinking that our lives are even, that for each tear that slides, a smile will rise in the dawn of another lifetime.
Over time, this belief became a shield against the pessimistic predictions that often brood over my head: "It's only a matter of time", I used to say.
Only little by little have I become aware of the fine line between what I thought to be good and bad; sometimes, it merely takes seconds for those opposites to merge, shift, or permeate your soul in a way you never predicted.
By the time I came across the term 'equinox', I felt so attached to the duality of opposites that I sensed an instant connection to the symbology that lay beneath its meaning: a transient instant where night and day are equally and inextricably synchronized.
Could this be applied to other poles? Is there a middle ground between love and hate, joy and sorrow, warmth and coolness, numbness and pain, innocence and adulthood, even life and death?
I began working on this project to dive deeper into why I felt this way. Songs I had written in the past merged with new material, and soon enough, stories and characters found their way into a narrative, along with their memories, reveries, and snapshots lost along the way.
Amidst a crying ocean, old friends visited me in the shape of ghosts and omens, pretending to be the love of my life when they had barely been a stranger on my train. And when I reached the last stop on this quest I feared, I found the moon had landed on my feet only to whisper: "Happy summer solstice! Glad you made it one more year.”
The child that lives in me is jumping for joy since this is finally yours as it was mine before. Long as your love lives on like that kid who's somewhere running in my dreams again, I can promise you will never fall into oblivion."
equinox, my debut EP, is out now.❤️🩹🌊✨🍃
