A Runner's Life 2014/3/24
A Runner’s Life 2014/3/24
selfie on the run, a photo by danielledeutsch on Flickr.
Running helps improve my self-confidence and self-discipline. I started my runner’s journey in July 2008 in a 15K race and have completed over 10 races since including two half-marathons and a full marathon!
This post marks the fourth week of training for my second full marathon this summer in San Diego. When I am not running I am training…

Delicious Homemade Granola
Macadamia Nut Energy Bars original recipe by ISLAND PRINCESS Macadamia nuts
Granola bars are a favorite go to food of mine during or after a hard workout. They are great to take on the go providing an energy boost for long hikes, bike rides, runs, or just to have around camp. The other day I found a recipe to make my own granola on the back of a bag of Hawaiian grown macadamia nuts that a friend…

The start of something new; Blogging: Day one
The start of something new; Blogging: Day one
Thank you for stopping down at my Photography blog. I am currently enrolled at the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts at Arizona State University. I recently submitted 10 gelatin silver (black and white) prints and passed the portfolio to be officially admitted as a photography student. I am also an active member of the Photographer’s Association at ASU. The club has allowed me to meet…

Lights, Camera, Silence!
New photo story on the blog today! The past week I focused my photography on the quiet moments in my day where I could just be me with my own thoughts... #photography #reflection #silence
Every photograph begins with a moment of silence and a connection between the photographer and the model or subject being photographed. These moments are preserved as still images within the frame. The past week I focused my photography on the quiet moments in my day where I could just be me with my own thoughts without the daily social distractions that often surround me. Much like in a yoga…

Workshops I attended: Intro to Wet Plate Collodion Photography!
Intro to Wet Plate Collodion Photography! Fun @artintersection :D
In 2012 I was introduced to the interesting 19th century process of wet plate collodion photography. The whole process from taking the picture to development happened in less than ten minutes apart. It is a labor intensive process that keeps you active and on your feet from the start to the finished product. Tin types were relatively quick and inexpensive to make in the 19th century and remain…

Student science experiment finds plants won’t grow near Wi-Fi router
Ninth-graders design science experiment to test the effect of cellphone radiation on plants. The results may surprise you.
As a recent college grad, job searching has been nothing less than miserable, and these past few months of post graduation have been among the most frustrating of my life. Finding a job isn’t the problem, it’s finding one that I would love to make a career out of. With every job website I visit I feel like I’m losing my direction instead of uncovering my path, like I’m grasping desperately at thin air with every cover letter and resume I send out, knowing that I most likely won’t like the job even if they offer it to me. So, today I’m making a list of all of my dreams, big and small, realistic and ridiculous and making myself a map of my future that will undoubtedly lead me to happiness.
I can really relate to this and I love this "DIY jar of dreams!"

Saw this bus today and the guy thanked me for smiling back and acknowledging him for "riding 9,000 to end bullying." #OneMillionActsOfKindness Imagine if everyone of us did even the smallest gesture of kindness everyday how much good we would create and share together in this life. Do good and you will receive good. So smile, it makes people wonder what you are thinking and brightens even the greyest cloud.
Thank you to the ASU Photo Club for having this awesome photo booth at this years school of art festival at Arizona State University. I love coming back to the campus, seeing, and hanging out with some of the coolest artists and friends. There were all kinds of witty and crazy-fun sayings typed or hand-written on paper hearts and even, can you imagine, photographs printed inside the hearts for all of us photo and art nerds to reminisce, smile, and go wild over. Brilliant! Though I'm sure it was most of the sayings that left a lasting impression, "I love you like Ansel loved dem mountains," or "won't you be the c to my 41?"
On a serious note, I am very thankful for the many opportunities and friendships I have found through the club and the photo program in general. All of the artists booths were fantastic in their live demonstrations. I especially enjoyed throwing paint at a former teacher to help bring more summer art programs for the AZ Boys and Girls Club.
I had a great time back on the ASU campus for the school of art festival and even learned about some new clubs! Thank you to the Society for Art Video for setting up this cool GIF Photo Booth! Happy Valentine's everyone!

My day on Earth 12/12/12 from Danielle Deutsch on Vimeo.
On 12/12/12 I woke up to a beautiful and mild winter day in Arizona. I attempted to document my day through a series of photographs using a DSLR and a iPhone. Something else happened for better or worse that drew me into sequencing this cut with a series of video and sound clips. The six modes of transportation you see represent my day and year in 2012. I ride the bus, light-rail, walk, run, bike, and carpool to get from A to B in an attempt to leave a more sustainable footprint.

I saw this post on Pinterest and the instructions below it said,
"Hold each pose for 30 seconds. You'll feel great when its all done! AND it should take about 14 minutes, and you can do it at home. I'm going to try to do as much of these as possible!"
It is one of my fitness goals that I am working toward in my training which consist of a lot of running, yoga, strength training, stretching, kick-boxing, and dancing!
