What makes Crimson Desert special is how good it is at simply being a video game. It doesn't have the driving force of a grand narrative, and it isn't the best at character development. But the open-world sandbox experience is a wonder of immersion and exploration. It's fun to play. And it's fun to "be there". And maybe that's enough.

But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet; A sudden tree or standing stone, That none have seen but we alone.

Played a few hours of Crimson Desert this weekend and I already know I'll be playing hundreds more. The photo mode is somewhat basic, but the world is stunning. Can't wait to explore and get lost in it.

Seven hours into my first playthrough (two of those were spent in the climbing gym lol) and I can already tell this will be one of my great gaming experiences of the year. Beautiful, inspired. And a wonderful photo mode as well. The Mountain is calling...
